An ER Finale Recap Top 10 List

ER
Finale Recap - Top 10 List

Jeff L - Sr. Staff Writer
jeffl@thetwocentscorp.com

Top ten highlights from the E.R. series finale:

10. Dr. Benton's son Reese is grown up and doing fine. As many will recall, Reese was born prematurely and is deaf. Benton at first had difficulty dealing with the fact that his son was deaf and looked into surgery to restore his ability to hear.

9. Even in the sad final episode they find time for humor. A projectile vomiting patient, a penile fracture, a man using industrial caulk as Viagra. This has always been a staple of County General and it was nice to see they didn't forget it in the final episode.

This episode could have been called Goodbye Neela. It was, afterall, her final episode and features a nice (but “phoned-in” cameo by Maura Tierney as Abby Lockhart).

Here's the rundown, sorry it's so late. Not like anyone is going to read this anyway. Nobody likes my recaps and I should just shut up and leave people alone.

Neela finds out about Brenner's troubled past (i.e. sexual abuse as a child). Neela and Brenner end up breaking up and Neela has to leave for Seattle to pick up a heart for her transplant patient. I guess they can't afford a medical courier.

Dr. Carter: Bandages his arm from his dialysis. We find out why he’s back at County. He lost a kidney back when he got stabbed and now he’s contracted some disease in Darfur that attacked his one remaining kidney. Since they don’t have kidneys anywhere in Africa, or any other place besides Chicago for that matter, he’s come back home to get on the donor list. There’s a funny exchange between Carter and Banfield where he asks for one of her kidneys, but he’s just kidding. Carter is a little rusty and out of date with the practicing medicine in a modern E.R.

It’s all about the heart in this Valentine’s week episode.

Dr. Morris and cop Claudia are romantic enjoying morning after. She wants some candy Valentine’s hearts, you know the kind with the cute little sayings printed on them, but Archie doesn’t know what she’s talking about, because he’s apparently lived in a cave his entire life.

ER – Begs the Question – "Age of Innocence"

In this week’s episode of ER, there was some seriously gross meatball surgery going on. What’s worse? It involved an eyeball. Nasty.

Which begs the question… As we count down the final episodes of the show, what it the grossest thing you have seen on ER? I can’t handle all of the random projectile vomiting, myself, but that is understandable. How about the butcher knife in that guy's head? Or Romano getting his arm cut off by the helicopter?

Drop the grossness in the comment section below and we'll cringe together.

We all saw this coming from a mile away. It was only a matter of time, really. All the clues were there: Haleh thought she recognized her, she always acted weird around Trauma One, whenever someone referenced “family” she cringed and changed the subject. So when Dr. Banfield became involved in a rescue of a nearly-drowned toddler and the flashbacks came rolling in, I wasn’t surprised. What did surprise me, however, was the fun I had as a fan of ER seeing County General, circa 2002, with it’s green and yellow walls and very familiar and missed faces.

ER - "Oh, Brother" - Begs the Question

Last night's episode of ER followed Chaz, Greg's brother, through his first day on the job as a first-year med student. With an EMT background and a familiarity of the ER personnel, Chaz was able to jump right in and get to work... at first. After a string of bad decisions (mostly made by Archie), Chaz has the worst first day in ER history, including (but not limited to) the squishing a patient in the MRI machine, almost killing a patient with a misplaced chest tube, and getting a severe tounge-lashing from the new Chief. Which begs the question... What was your worst first day? Of school, of work, whatever. Leave you painful story in the comments section and we can all commiserate together!

ER - "Haunted" - Begs the Question...

On this week's episode of ER, we saw all the results of horrible Halloween nights: candy puke, inappropriate costumes, fights, drunk, scary Frankenstein Monsters, and refusals to share candy. All this begs the question...

What is the worst Halloween you have had? Stuck at home with the flu? Tricked into wearing a costume to a party where no on else was wearing one? Breakup? Share your horror stories in the comments section!

We meet the new interns get the tour of the ER with all the crazies everywhere. We have the “looks are everything” blonde in the 3 inch heels, the man who can't let go of his cell phone, the quiet and seemingly shy young woman, and the cocky guy who is the surgical intern. Then they get jerked in line by Dr Banfield, the new chief of the ER, played by Angela Bassett.

So we've all heard that this is ER's final year. Many of our favorite characters have come and gone over the years, but I could not have predicted who we lost in this final season premiere.

"ER" Season Finale Recap & Review - "The Chicago Way"

ER
“The Chicago Way”

Original Air Date: May 15, 2008

Becky - TwoCents Reviewer

Holy cliffhanger, Batman!

In true ER style, the season finale was an explosive (literally) cliffhanger that will certainly have the viewers tuning in next season – the last season – for answers.

It's always fun when guest starts stop by County General, and there was no shortage of them this week. Steve Buscemi, that crazy-eyed guy from the silver screen was hauled in drunk. “I'm the last guy you want in your ER,” Buscemi's character, Art (Arnie) says. “You can say that again,” retorts Pratt. Well, Pratt, you don't know this yet, but you're right. Arnie brings you nothing but trouble.

"ER" Recap & Review - "Tandem Repeats"

ER
“Tandem Repeats”

Original Air Date: 5.8.08

Becky - TwoCents Reviewer

This week at County General wasn't quite as explosive as last week, but there was plenty going on nonetheless. Abby interviewed for a new job; Neela operated on the torn aorta lady again; Sam and Gates got caught in a compromising position; and that new guy, Dr. Brinner, is an jerkface. Oh, and there were some patients, too.

In a nutshell, this episode was the coming of age for Dr. Archie Morris. He's been somewhat of a wiener from the get go, but this week he really stepped up to the plate and became a man. Oh, and he wasn't the only one, but more about that in a minute.

"ER" Recap & Review - "Truth Will out"

ER
“Truth Will Out”

Original Air Date: April 24, 2008

Becky - TwoCents Staff Writer

The title of this weeks' episode, Truth Will Out, makes no sense to me. It should have been more along the lines of “Damage Control” because the major plot points all revolve around someone trying to fix something they have screwed up. There are two major and three minor story lines revolving around this idea of relationship repair.

What do you get when you combine a birthday at work, management seminars, blood clots, torn aortas, broken bones, an angry teenager, beautiful red roses and colon cancer? You get a big Neela steak with sides of Sam and Gates and a Pratt salad.
