This week, we get a double dose of Trust Me and I, for one, like it. The first episode introduces us to Diane Cooper, head of marketing for Hydrenaline, an energy drink of the Red Bull variety. At their first meeting, she’s flirting with Mason as if her life depends on it. After the meeting, Mason brings this up to Conner, who barely looks up from his phone to tell Mason he doesn’t think she was. The surprising thing is not how Conner can be so oblivious but how okay the two of them are, considering last week’s major blowout. That’s Conner and Mason for you though. Somehow, they fight like sworn enemies and then brush it off.

We’ve spent a lot of time with dear Arc Mobile. You could say the gang at The Mink Group at Rothman, Greene and Mohr need Arc Mobile like I need the classic nachos when I go to Chili’s. That’d be a lot. So what happens when the all-important Arc Mobile account gets put into review? Well, the usually laid back Tony asks for his employees to put their Arc Mobile phones into a tote bag he’s emptied out and taken from one such employee. They all do so, except for Conner who has a different cell phone carrier. It’s a good thing too because Tony takes the bag, slams it into a desk and then beats it on the floor and repeatedly stomps on it before locking himself in his office. Yikes.

This week, Mason and Conner are told that Rothman, Teens and More, a subdivision of the agency, will be helping out on their account with Mark Shale because their campaign that was geared toward 35 to 50 year olds just isn’t selling to teens. Conner refers to Rothman, Teens and More as a virus, saying they help on one project and then try to take over other accounts. Mason seeks advice on reaching the teen market from his daughter, Haley, played by Vanessa Marano (Luke’s daughter on Gilmore Girls). From their conversation, Mason ends up pitching ads in the middle of downloadable books, which the client laughs at. Uh, oh.

This week, the whole gang goes to an advertising award ceremony and arch-enemy Simon Cochran wins. Sarah’s ad with her old agency wins but another person takes credit for it. Mason and Conner try to stop her but she storms the stage, saying nothing. Conner leaves, saying he can’t watch and runs into Carrie, an ex of his who he clearly still has feelings for. She’s pregnant and married but the real trouble is that it doesn’t seem to stop Conner, who calls her the one that got away.

Last week’s golden tagline “What can you do with one hand?” gets shot down by a focus group who thinks it’s about masturbation. The group sets about thinking of the next new line, while Mason tries to find an art director to partner with Sarah. Instead of thinking of a new line, Conner busies himself with fighting for the killed line and hooking up with a woman he just met, during business hours, nonetheless. Also, Mason’s new promotion means he gets a new title and nice, new business cards but not the raise he was looking forward to or the boat Conner wanted him to buy.

Trust Me follows Mason McGuire and his copywriting partner Conner in the world of advertising. Conner is all about the one tagline and he and Mason bounce ideas and images off of each other like they're playing a highly caffinated game of tennis. They're working to come up with a good campaign for cell phone company Arc Mobile and Conner has come up with Spar-text-icus, which I kept insisting was a terrible idea. Conner didn't listen but I didn't expect him to.
