Last week’s golden tagline “What can you do with one hand?” gets shot down by a focus group who thinks it’s about masturbation. The group sets about thinking of the next new line, while Mason tries to find an art director to partner with Sarah. Instead of thinking of a new line, Conner busies himself with fighting for the killed line and hooking up with a woman he just met, during business hours, nonetheless. Also, Mason’s new promotion means he gets a new title and nice, new business cards but not the raise he was looking forward to or the boat Conner wanted him to buy.

Mason gets the call from Peter, the Arc Mobile client, much earlier than he expected and Sarah, who was working on a few lines, is nowhere to be found. Mason struggles to come up with ideas off the top of his head before putting Peter on hold and panic-calling Conner, who is very, very busy. Conner tries to think of lines and have sex with the woman he met hours earlier (guest star Danneel Harris) and finally comes up with “Do thumbthing.” Mason sells the line to Peter, who loves it. The trouble is, Conner didn’t think of the line first. It belongs to Chip Lyons, a prospective art director Mason interviewed but had no intention of hiring due to Chip being a young, pretentious jerk. Conner somehow subconsciously gleaned it from looking through Chip’s portfolio and that spells trouble.

Mason and Conner scramble to fix this, as Mason is certain Chip will sue if Arc Mobile uses the line. The only reasonable option is to hire Chip but everyone hates him and he decides he’s going to think on the offer. So, Mason, Conner, Tom and Hector, the cubicle guys, who are still annoyed that Mason didn’t pitch their line and Sarah take Chip out to the bar. Sarah agrees to go only because Mason promises her she’ll have her office with a window she’s been asking for nonstop. Sarah and Chip make out, Tom, Hector and Chip get arrested (for trying to punch a cop on a horse) and Chip tells Mason he’s not taking the job offer because Sarah is a “psycho.” Yikes. Mason takes it out on Sarah, who starts to cry after Mason leaves.

Mason convinces Arc Mobile they need to test “Do thumbthing” to make sure the public will like it. Mason’s wife, Erin (Sarah Clarke, from 24!) and Conner make sure they’re part of the random test group selection at the mall and successfully sabotage the line so that it too, is killed. Mason returns to the office to find that Sarah has worked hard to get Chip to agree to work for the firm and Mason tells him to go away. In a wonderful moment, he tells Sarah she deserves better than Chip and to have a say in who is hired as her creative partner.

At first, even while I like Sarah Clarke a lot, I kept thinking “It’s Nina, from 24, it’s Nina, from 24,” but she really grew into the role by the end of the episode. She’s upbeat and a good match for Mason, especially since she tends to have the opposite opinion he does on prospective taglines. I loved when she repeatedly hit him with her pillow when he answered the phone in bed.

We also saw another side to copywriter Sarah this week, who was hurt when Mason told her off. The sad look on her face destroyed me. I enjoyed seeing the sensitive side of Mason when he told Sarah she deserves better. Also, I wish to know more about this kilt photo of Mason and Conner.
