The Office - Recap & Review - Broke

The Office
Broke

Original Air Date: Apr 23, 2009

Thomas Nikl – Associate Staff Writer
thomas@thetwocentscorps.com

In a classic opening sequence, Michael has a van which he uses to make 5AM deliveries of paper. He picks up Ryan (put keeps moving the car forward a bit so he can’t get in) and Pam (who Jim walks to the door in his boxers). Meanwhile, Michael honks the van and yells out “time to make the donuts” and the way he says it is hilarious and the fact that it’s 5AM and Michael doesn’t care that he is screaming and honking! Ok, folks, off the The Office!

The Office - Recap & Review - "Golden Ticket"

The Office
Golden Ticket

Original Airdate: March 12, 2009

Shannon - Senior Staff Writer

Opening: Dwight and Michael get into a girl fight. That’s all you need to know.

Michael comes to work dressed as Willy Wonka. My husband says he called it. Whatever. The title is “Golden Ticket”. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist, pal.

Michael put Golden Tickets into random boxes of paper that offer the customer 10% off. Michael is very proud of himself, of course.

A phone salesman comes by to see Michael, but Pam doesn’t want them to get a new system that will basically replace her. She tells him that Michael isn’t in and when the salesman wants to make an appt, Jim cuts in and pretends to be Michael. Michael happens to walk up at this time. Jim calls Michael "Jimbo" and to get Michael to play along Jim and Pam give him meaningful looks. Surprisingly, Michael plays along and there is a lot of Fonzie Ayyy-ing going on. Salesman kinda gets freaked and leaves. Best cold opening I’ve seen this season.

The Office
Lecture Circuit Part 2

Original Air Date: Feb 12, 2009

Shannon - TwoCents Staff Writer
shannon@thetwocentscorp.com

Angela is extremely perky because she sold her engagement ring on ebay and bought a $7000 cat named Princess Lady. Angela has a nanny cam on her cats which just tells me all I need to know about Angela.

Jim gets Kelly a birthday cake, but Kelly hates it because her name isn’t on it and it has no theme. Kelly is way too freaking high-maintenance. If someone presented me with ice cream cake right now, I’d be all over that thing.

Pam and Michael go to the Nashua branch to see Holly, but Holly is on an HR retreat. The receptionist kindly directs them to speak to A.J., Holly’s boyfriend. Oh snap!

The Office
Lecture Circuit

Michael learns the office has a p.a. system. It goes about as well as you can imagine until Jim discreetly cuts the cord.

Pam and Michael go on a lecture circuit to explain Michael’s secret for success. Pam is along as Michael’s assistant. Michael would prefer Pam dress as a magician’s assistant. Also, she gets to carry all Michael’s stuff by herself. She’s also not looking forward to seeing Karen.

The Office - Recap & Review - The Duel

The Office
“The Duel”

Original Air Date: January 15, 2009

PG Ignacio – Sr. Staff Writer
pg@thetwocentscorp.com

Best episode of The Office in a long time. I normally save my comments about the episode until the end of the Recap & Review, but I couldn’t help myself today. I have been kind of disappointed in the quality of humor being displayed this season and last season. There have been funny moments, don’t get me wrong, but the funny hasn’t been as consistent like the first few seasons.

Tonight we find humor in the form of a good old fashion duel. Mano-a-mano. Dwight vs. Andy. The prize? The love of Angela. Anyone else want to get in on this? Anyone other than Meredith?

This year’s Christmas party is a bust, of course. Phyllis oversteps her boundaries with Angela, Meredith gets drunk and sets her hair on fire, and Dwight corners the market on this year’s hottest toy. Just another Christmas at the office!

The Office - Recap & Review -The Surplus

The Office
"The Surplus"

Original Air Date: 4 Dec 2008

Shannon - Two Cents Staff Writer
shannon@thetwocentscorp.com

Oscar tells Michael there’s a $4300 surplus in the office budget that has to be used before the end of the year or they’ll lose it. Michael needs him to break it down into lemonade stand terms, of course. Oscar suggests that they use the money to buy a new copier for the office, but when Michael suggests that to the rest of the crew, Pam says she wants new chairs. Jim and Pam have their first public fight when Jim votes for the copier. Pam passively aggressively threatens Jim to reconsider changing his vote from new copier to new chairs. Looks like a little hubba-hubba to me, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

The Office - Recap & Review - Frame Toby

The Office
“Frame Toby”

Original Airdate: Nov 20, 2008

Shannon – TwoCents Staff Writer
shannon@thetwocentscorp.com

Toby is back from Costa Rica (yay!) and to commemorate the occasion, Michael yells “NO!” loudly and copiously. Apparently, Toby has been back for a week but Michael didn’t notice since he doesn’t go in the back part of the office since that’s where Holly used to work. Michael complains to David Wallace, but David is having none of Michael’s whining.

Michael is super excited to go on a business trip to Canada, while Jim is counting the days until Pam comes home from art school. Kelly and Ryan pick up where they left off and Angela almost gets caught with Dwight. Wow, for my first Office recap, this one’s a winner!

PG Ignacio – Sr. Staff Writer
pg@thetwocentscorp.com

Last week I was disappointed with the quality of The Office episode, “Employee Transfer.” Well, I hoped you watched it this week. It may have been the funniest of this season thus far. How did they do it? It was just the right kind of interaction between Jim and Dwight, a tiny piece of Japanese technology, and a twist at the end of the episode. What’s that? You missed it? Well, continue reading to get a recap. How many shoes do you need? Sorry, I wasn’t talking to you…continue reading…

The Office
“Employee Transfer”

Original Air Date: October 30, 2008

PG Ignacio – Sr. Staff Writer
pg@thetwocentscorp.com

The title of tonight’s episode is pretty self explanatory as to what will happen, especially based on David Wallace’s comment at the end of last week’s episode. Holly is being transferred to the Nashua office because of her relationship with Michael. However, it wasn’t the only story line being told. Jim has lunch with Pam and his brothers in New York to celebrate the engagement. Dwight faces off with Andy in the conference room.

The Office - Recap & Review - "Crime Aid"

The Office
“Crime Aid”

Original Air Date: October 23, 2008

PG Ignacio – Senior Staff Writer
pg@thetwocentscorp.com

Michael Scott is truly a charitable man. He wanted to contribute proceeds from Casino Night to Afghanis with AIDS. He set up a fundraising run to Support the Rabid. What else can such a generous man think of next? The answer is Crime Aid. The purpose is to raise money to recoup for the lost value of the items stolen from the office. Obviously this results from Michael’s own guilt. How did all this start? It’s funny how everyone else suffers from Michael’s luck. Michael got “lucky” on his third date with Holly. Yes, when I say “lucky” I mean they had sex. According to Holly, Michael got her “twice.” Isn’t that nice?
