I wouldn’t leave Conner in charge of a cat for the weekend, let alone in charge of the entire Mink Group that has to work all weekend to come up with ideas for a Chicago Olympic bid. Unfortunately, Mason doesn’t have much of a choice. He’s promised his wife, Erin, that they’ll have a wonderful weekend staycation, booked in a hotel in town, full of spa treatments and apparently, outrageous sex.

It’s a terrible idea to leave Conner in charge but he sells it well. Here’s the choice: stay, prove you don’t trust Conner and ruin your marriage or go and leave Conner in charge, possibly screwing up a chance at the Olympic bid. Oh, yeah and there’s that pesky Conner threatening to go on the staycation himself and have outrageous sex with your wife issue. Conner’s first act as temporary leader is to send everyone home and we’re off to another good start.

Meanwhile, Sarah’s excited about her new art director partner, Julie Finn (played by Leslie Grossman, Mary Cherry from Popular). She cozies up what is to be Julie’s cubicle, brings in cinnamon buns and nearly bounces as she waits for Julie to show up. Trouble is, Julie shows up late, isn’t interested in the cinnamon buns and has nothing but complaints for Sarah. Julie was promised a window office (sound familiar?) and was told there wouldn’t be overtime or weekends, which she can’t work because she has a son. On day two of the weekend from hell, Julie brings in her son, who is more like a demon disguised as a kid that destroys the office.

Everyone works hard, even Tom and Hector who are late on finishing a freelance project. It all goes badly when Conner goes on a mega power trip and vetoes everyone else’s ideas and makes them work on his idea, combining Olympians and Chicago landmarks. I like the idea but Conner doesn’t handle being in charge well, as you would imagine.

At one point, Hector panic-calls Mason, who has spent his entire staycation constantly worrying and floating in and out of the office, annoying his wife. Hector explains that the Cochran group has a similar campaign and Mason bails on his wife to go down there. He manages to make it back in time to watch her finish her dessert and understandably, Erin is upset. She wishes he had just bailed completely and spent the weekend at the office because the hoping and waiting for him to come back ruined any chance of a good time for her.

Mason returns to work and they spend the night coming up with three solid campaigns. In the morning, the gang pitches their ideas to Tony, who commends them on what they’ve come up with but tells them he wants to pitch his own idea to Denise. The group is stunned.

Sarah finally confronts Julie and tells her it isn’t working out. Julie quits before Sarah fires her and Sarah insists she was fired. I hope they pair Sarah up with someone decent before the end of the season because it just doesn’t seem fair that each week is another let down for her, either professionally or personally.

The weekend isn’t a total loss. Mason makes it back to the staycation just as Erin is packing up. He apologizes and they make good use of the room for the rest of the time they have it. You’re still a jerk this week, Mason and a bit dumb for leaving Conner in charge.

The season’s quickly wrapping up and I don’t know where it’s headed for the finale. I hope the show gets picked up for a second season. I really want to see where they take the show next season. So, what did you think? Share with me your TwoCents on all things Trust Me in the comments!
