ER

This week at County General wasn't quite as explosive as last week, but there was plenty going on nonetheless. Abby interviewed for a new job; Neela operated on the torn aorta lady again; Sam and Gates got caught in a compromising position; and that new guy, Dr. Brinner, is an jerkface. Oh, and there were some patients, too.

Abby has interviewed for the attending position, but she has also interviewed for a attending position at a private hospital. The private hospital offers her the job. The pay is better, the hours are better, the hospital management is better. You get the idea. But she wants to take some time to decide. She puts pressure on Pratt to get word from Anspaugh before she makes her decision. Pratt and Anspaugh aren't quick enough and Abby accepts the job from Peyton Medical Center. No way. Abby's leaving County General? Nope. She get the attending position at CG, too, so she chooses to stay at the bad hospital with bad hours, bad pay, and bad management. Makes sense to me. (Not really.)

Neela's patient, Cheryl, has an infection, so they have to go back in and see what the problem is. The problem is a ruptured bowel. Dubenko has to leave during the surgery to see another patient and he leaves Neela all alone. She is not happy about that and she lets his know. He tells her that she's a great doctor blah, blah, blah, but crap happens. Cheryl's prognosis is not good (she's going to die) but she tells Neela that she saved her life and she believes in miracles. I think Neela is starting to rethink her place as a doctor/surgeon, but don't they all after something bad happens.

A security guard brings a DVD to Frank. IT seems the hospital is wired with cameras and a couple has been caught having sex. Frank, Archie, and Pratt check it out, but they can't tell who it is, but Sam knows as soon as she sees it that it's her and Gates. So they make a plan to get it back. And he steals the DVD – he thinks. It's the wrong one, and when Morris and Brinner are giving a trauma presentation, the whole room is treated to The Sam and Gates Show. It was the greatest presentation EVER, Morris relates.

Dr. Brinner is a jerkface. Have I mentioned that? He has now slept with Laverne, one of the 4th years, which I am assuming is probably a no-no, but we've overlooked it before, haven't we? But this guy is just rude to her at work and she doesn't understand why. When she calls him on it, he claims it because she was boring in bed. She threatens to have him fired, then he points out that it would look like she was trying to sleep her way to good marks. Jerk. But Uncle Donnie thinks he's just great, and since he runs the show...oh well, poor Laverne.

A woman, Lois, was brought into the ER because she passed out in the crosswalk. Abby is taking care of her and discovers that she is in liver failure. She's pretty sick. Someone has called your parents, though. They're coming. Oh, no. She didn't want that. Mom arrives and wants to know where her son Lonnie is. Guess what, Mom. Lois is Lonnie. Mom calls Dad and tells him not to come to the hospital. Please. Don't. Come. Does he listen. Nope. And Dad's not quite as accepting as Mom and wants to just leave her there to die. Lois needs a liver transplant and the waiting list is long. Mom volunteers to be tested and although she is a match she has cirrhosis. Seems that mom was a drinker. Dad is refusing to be tested. He doesn't care. That woman lying there is not his son. Finally, after Lois goes into cardiac arrest and alost dies on the table in front of him, he relents and agrees to be tested. All's well that ends well, right?

Next week is the season finale and probably something will blow up. Maybe it will be Dr. Brinner.

    That's my thoughts, what's yours?
