ER
“The Chicago Way”

Holy cliffhanger, Batman!

In true ER style, the season finale was an explosive (literally) cliffhanger that will certainly have the viewers tuning in next season – the last season – for answers.

It's always fun when guest starts stop by County General, and there was no shortage of them this week. Steve Buscemi, that crazy-eyed guy from the silver screen was hauled in drunk. “I'm the last guy you want in your ER,” Buscemi's character, Art (Arnie) says. “You can say that again,” retorts Pratt. Well, Pratt, you don't know this yet, but you're right. Arnie brings you nothing but trouble.

Stanley Tucci was back to reprise his role as Dr. Moretti. Remember him, the chief that Abby had a one night stand with, then left because his crazy son got into some sort of trouble? Well, he was back for reasons that were unclear to me, but he wanted to talk to Abby. She didn't want to talk at all, but she told him that she didn't blame him; her life was already heading for disaster. He just helped her get there faster. So I guess he thought then the right thing to go was talk to Luka. So off he goes to Luka's new job at the hospice home, and he is greeted by a pretty hard punch in the face. I guess Luka is holding a grudge.

Hal Holbrook was also back reprising his role from 2 weeks ago as Walter, the hospice home resident. He gives Luka some advice about marriage and kids. “Being a parent gives you strength you didn't know you had.” Luka seems to really consider this advice, because he shows up to the ER later to talk to Abby. He loves her, she loves him. They're both sorry. He wants to move away to somewhere no one knows them and start over. To get on with their lives. Together. Aww. And she agrees, of course. How can you not. It's Luka. He's great. I do wish he'd smile more, though. Does this talk about moving away mean that Luka and Abby are not going to be around for season 15? Oh no, say it ain't so!!

Neela went to the M&M Q&A about Cheryl, the patient that she and Dubenko killed...I mean, failed to heal. She's telling the case details, answering questions and trying her hardest not to say that Dubenko left her alone to do the surgery. Then he stands up, flips out about bad hospital policy and resigns. Will anyone be left next season? Neela is in the doctor's lounge with Dr. Brinner who proceeds to tell her what her problem is: she needs to get laid. Oh, gosh, have some sense Neela. Please. No Neela! Didn't you read my review last week? He's a jerkface.

Meanwhile, back in the ER, this Arnie character is claiming that someone is trying to kill him. And he's not some crazy drunk spouting off paranoid stories. People are trying to kill him and they come right into the ER to do it. Turns out, Arnie was a lawyer there in Chicago and some of his clients were members of the mob. He rolled over on his clients and was put into the witness protection program. He came back to Chicago for his mother's funeral and the mob was waiting for him. Then Rick from the US Marshal's office shows up to take him to a safe house. He will travel there by ambulance. Pratt and Sam have a little argument about which one of them should travel with him. We are never shown who goes. What we are shown is the ambulance blowing to smithereens as it pulls away from the hospital.

So who was it? I have no idea. I don't want it to be either of them. And I worry about Abby who was walking down the sidewalk at the same time. Stupid mob!

So that's my two cents. What do you think? I will leave you with one last thought, from Archie: “Love is hard. Be hard on love.”
