NUMB3RS - Magic Show - Begs The Question...

This week on NUMB3RS we have a mystery in a magic show. A magic mystery. It's so good that even Penn showed up to help - I guess Teller was busy.

Anyway - this begs the question... Do you believe in Magic?

Sing it in your head and then head over to the comments and tell us what you think. Then, before you know it, POOF! We'll have a discussion before you can say abra-cadabra.

NUMB3RS - Scan Man - Begs The Question...

This week's episode, entitled "Scan Man", had the FBI and crew dealing with a Rain Man type fellow who sent all his possessions in a never ending flow of UPS like shipping circles.

That begs the question... do you have any nightmare shipping stories? The BIG Christmas present that just never arrived? Someone steal your Amazon.com package from your doorstep and you never got it? Stuck behind a FedEx truck for MILES while late for work?

Share them with us, or your thoughts on this episode all before Charlie explodes into another 3-D explanation of really insane difficult math!

That begs the question - what have you waited a VERY long time for and FINALLY got? What was it? How did you react? Was it worth the waiting?

Share it with our friends here in the comments!

CBS' Sweeps Plans

An unprecedented CSI and TWO AND A HALF MEN "writers' crossover," cliffhanger finales and the crowning of the Ultimate Survivor, are among the highlights of CBS's May sweeps.

The May 5 episode of TWO AND A HALF MEN is written by CSI writers Sarah Goldfinger and Evan Dunsky from a story by CSI executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar. The May 8 episode of CSI was written by Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn, executive producers/writers of TWO AND A HALF MEN. (See show highlights below for complete storylines.)

"NUMB3RS" Recap & Review - "Thirteen"

NUMB3RS
“Thirteen”

Original Air Date: October 19, 2007

KP – TwoCents Head Writer

6 Days of Creation – 10 Commandments – 14 Stations of the Cross – 1 Word of God

A black cloaked man is performing some kind of ritualistic killing until we flash to a celebration at the Epps home for Charlie is now a published author with his book “The Attraction Equation – Being Popular is a Easy as Pi”. Papa Alan is too busy with his engineering homework to join the fun, so it turns out to be a double date with Charlie, Amita, Don and Liz. The party is cut short when Don gets a call and he, Liz and Charlie all go to meet up with David at the scene. This is the 2nd crime scene that uses Mozart’s Requiem on tape, biblical verses on the wall and some numbers that look like a big sudoku to me, but meets something more to Charlie of course. They are cell phone numbers. Charlie gets the next one out of the formula and as the cell rings the next victim is already with the black cloaked man of death.

“Hollywood Homicide”

Original Air Date:
October 5, 2007

KP –
TwoCents Head Writer

98,000 Out of Work Actors – 89.6 Liters of Water – 3 Friends – 30 Frames Per Second

It’s Will Traveler!! Oh, no. It’s Pyro!! Oh, no. It’ guest star Aaron Stanford who’s playing Brett Chandler on this one - a young famous actor who has a “Cribs” like home full of fancy things and of course lots and lots of ladies. Oh, and a dead girl in the tub….

All of this was captured on video by a friend of Brett and who has the tape now? Don Epps and company at the FBI of course. Through some crazy math and gumball analogies we get an ID on the girl – Andrea Barton who also shows up as a Jane Doe in the morgue. Hey look – Colby is back in the fold with the FBI where he’s going to sit tight until he’s reassigned. David, still not knowing what to say to Colby, heads over to Andrea’s apartment with Megan. There some mystery person is in the apartment and then tries to run over David with one of those mini cars. Getting a good look in the car window – it’s Andrea Barton driving! WHAT THE?!

Question – Why do TV cops always pull their guns and point them at suspects as they run away and NEVER shoot? I’d run too.

Yup, Andrea is still in the morgue. She was found dumped in a canyon. She was held under water to drown and was an only child. Anyone else thinking about plastic surgery? Special Agent Liz Warner (Aya Sumika), and Don’s girlie friend, is back this episode and teams up with Colby to head over to Brett Chandler’s house where they meet some more suspects, I mean characters, - Logan Oliver, Brett’s security, and Brett’s BFF Josh Ryan. We learn Brett’s brother Brian was killed in a car-jacking and their friend Pete was the friend visiting who filmed the opening death scene. “He spilt kind of sudden.” This is like Entourage gone bad.

Back at the Epps home, Amida lets herself in with her own key (oh la la), small talk with Papa Alan and Charlie fills her (us) in that the Friendship Dynamics paper he uses last week has interest from journalists for publication. By cleaning the fish tank, Charlie thinks he can figure out who the killer was. I love this stuff.

By the way – Andrea Barton – yeah, she had plastic surgery. Charlie and Larry head over to Brett’s house. Brett asks how solving crimes with math works – ah, the question we all ask watching this show! Brett calls it like something from the movies, but not as cool. At the plastic surgeon we find out that Andrea Barton and Tracey Meade were cut’ to look identical! Meade is the one who died. And both of their surgeries were paid for by Leslie Dennis – the “Melrose Madam”.

Colby brings Brett and his Entourage back to the FBI offices and they treat it like a field trip. There is now one random guy with them who we haven’t met yet this episode. We all know what that usually means, don’t we? Turns out he’s Brett’s manager – Mark. The field trip starts and ends in the interrogation room where Don questions them on knowing Andrea – enter Charlie where his “not cool” math pinpoints the size of the killer – matches Logan the security guy. Logan eyes Mark through the window. Tracey and Logan had a thing, but she was alive when he got out of that tub and Logan is about to tell them who did it as Mark runs in and pulls Logan out of the interview. Mmm Hmm. Liz gets a call from Logan “it’s all gone too far”. Don and Liz are off to meet Logan…he’s dead in his car off an embankment. Gun shot death – not a car accident.

DVD pirating, the Madam is back, and David and Megan show up at a club called Bedouin to find Kevin and Bryce Lee. Gun fight time. Someone gets shot! Wow. Tracey had leverage on Brett and company somehow and would in return get unreleased movies to give to the Logan brothers to sell. A jackal and lion scenario from Charlie tells us about game theory. Pete, the video taper, is found and tells Don that Josh and Logan didn’t want anyone to know about the dead girl. Alan says a funny line, which in the way this show works, gives Charlie something new to go on and voila – a new hypothesis and off David and Megan go to find Andrea Barton who isn’t surprised they are back.

Andrea spills the beans that Brett’s brother, Brian, wasn’t really killed in carjacking – Brett killed him! Accidentally of course. Brett is happy the weight is off his shoulders. But it wasn’t just Logan, Josh and Brett who know – Manager Mark did too! And Josh was with Brett when Logan was show – uh oh – what could this mean? Mark is on the run, shooting at Colby and Liz that’s what it means. Liz shoots Mark who’s holding a hostage. Mark isn’t dead, Brett is arrested for his brother’s death.

Colby gets a letter, his new assignment? We don’t know – yet. A nice family moment to end the episode as usually and we come to the end of our weekly trek through the Epps family adventure. See you all next week!

"NUMB3RS" Recap & Review - "Trust Metric"

NUMB3RS
"Trust Metric"

Original Air Date: September 28, 2007

KP - TwoCents Head Writer

So, last time we saw the NUMB3RS crew, our "friend" Colby (Dylan Bruno) was found to be a double agent. Don Epps (Rob Morrow) and the crew had to deal with this betrayal personally and professionally.

13 Ships - 16 Miles From Shore - 3 Drugs - 2 Identities

Don is still trying to figure this out and can't stop watching the video interrogation where David (Alimi Ballard) blows his top and tries to attack Colby. Cut to David losing his mind in a pool hall throwing the tough guys around asking if anyone knows some mystery man on a picture he has.

Professor Charlie Epps (David Krumholtz) is actually teaching a class. We don't see this often. Amita (Navi Rawat) and Charlie has a nice kiss - also something we didn't see a lot of lately. Amita fills us in that Charlie hasn't been doing a lot of contract work for the FBI - thus the teaching and kissing.

It seems Megan (Diane Farr) and Larry (Peter MacNicol) are still together, I'm glad to see Larry's trip on the Space Shuttle didn't change that. However they aren't at college, Larry is in a place for meditation and relaxation with Monks, turns out Megan has been doing the same - taking a lot of leave time from work. Having to deal with Colby and her secret work for the Dept of Justice.

Don seems to be the only one still working. He's pouring over the Colby interrogation again and again until Dad (Alan) finally shows up. Alan (Judd Hirsch) lets us all know it's been 5 weeks since the end of last season.

At the Northcom Regional Confinement Facility a 'lawyer' gives Colby the plan that something will happen during transfer, slips him a key, and other plans. Colby wants to make sure the lying for 2 years wasn't for nothing. Yup, the ole stop the convoy trick. Colby has a gun, his friend and fellow traitor (Dwayne - Shawn Hatosy) has one now too. They've escaped!

Charlie has been working on a mathematical process that describes the analysis of friendship dynamics. Don gets the word that Colby has escaped and can't even find his keys. Alan thinks Charlie should help. Colby texts "where are you" to someone on the cellphone he took from the guard.

Megan, David and Don are back together to figure this one out. Charlie and Amida are back at the FBI, and they've even called back Larry from the monastery. The whole team is back - well, except for Colby of course. Megan wants them to delve in to how they feel about this before they can do good work. Don says he feels like it's his fault. Colby texts again - and then Charlie's phone rings... it's Colby!

Charlie gives the phone to Don. Colby spills that he's been working for a guy named Agent Michael Kirkland Counter Intelligence out of D.C. They have been using Colby to give specific info to Dwayne in order to stay with him and find out who Dwayne was answering to in China. And everything was going through the Dept of Justice (DOJ). See a pattern here yet? Problem is Colby can't get to Agent Kirkland anymore (thus the unanswered texts). Side note - Don is actually starting to understand Charlie's math! In doing so, he knows where Colby will come out of hiding. He catches up, but they escape again and of course Don blames himself.

Megan and David show up to find Kirkland. Yup, he's dead. Very dead. Needles all around him. He wasn't killed, he was being tortured and died of a major heartattack. Megan doesn't know what to think (DOJ anyone?). Colby and Dwayne show up on a large freighter and come face to face with Batman! No, it's Val Milmer. Who, with information from the formerly alive Agent Kirkland, knows Colby is a triple agent. Here come the needles. They are about to interrogate Colby the way Jack Bauer likes to. This guy is serious.

Charlie's math has the FBI looking for Chinese freighters. They find the car at a lot of a freighter. It's a govt car! Signed up by Mason Lancer - Special Assitant to the Dept. Attorney General. Yeah, you guessed it - it's Val Kilmer. Don asks point blank. Do we think Colby is a traitor? According to Charlie's Trust Metric, it matches what's in their hearts - they all belive in Colby. (Well, David is still a little unsure.) Kilmer is now in "I'm going to kill you" mode with Colby, but here comes the calvary. Helicopter, speed boats, all kinds of stuff. Reminds me of that big scene in Police Academy 3. Dr. Death Kilmer injects Colby with some of the Potassium Chloride. Before he can push the plunger all the way down, Dwayne shoots Kilmer, one of Kilmer's guys shoots Dwayne, Don shots that guy, David takes out the needle and starts CPR on Colby...

According to Megan the Doctors said Colby's vital signs are getting better, but David sure doesn't feel better about who Colby really is.

This show is smart, witty and has a nice caring feel among the character, I look forward to another season!

TwoCents Fall Preview - Fridays (CBS)

Fridays are full of drama on...

CBS

Show: Ghost Whisperer
Premiere Date: September 28th
Time: 8:00PM EST
TwoCents Staff Returning Drama Rank: 24 of 25
TwoCents Staff Writer: TBD
Starring: Jennifer Love Hewitt, David Conrad, Camryn Manheim, Jay Mohr
Premiere Description: "The Underneath" - Melinda's search for the truth about her family history grows more complex when she learns that she has an underlying connection to Grandview, on the third season premiere of GHOST WHISPERER.
New Face: JAY MOHR will become a series regular, playing Professor Payne who provides an encyclopedic knowledge of the spirit world, as well as genuine concern for Melinda’s (Jennifer Love Hewitt) safety as she puts herself in ever greater danger to protect those she cares about — even though he hides his concern behind an ever-present irreverent sense of humor. "We’re thrilled to have Jay as a series regular this year. He’s a terrific actor who is fun to work with for the same reasons he’s fun to watch: he brings humor, energy, creativity and spontaneity to the set and to his role. He also brings sports commentary and sometimes donuts," says Executive Producer P.K. Simonds.

Show: Moonlight
Premiere Date: September 28th
Time: 9:00PM EST
TwoCents Staff New Show Rank: 17 of 26
TwoCents Staff Writer: Jon G
Starring: Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, Shannyn Sossamon
Description: "No Such Thing As Vampires" - When a series of vampire-style murders plague L.A., immortal investigator Mick St. John (O'Loughlin) sets out to find the culprits and re-connects with a woman, Internet reporter Beth Turner (Myles), from his past at a crime scene, on the series premiere of MOONLIGHT.
Jon G's TwoCents: The vampire-detective-walking-among-us type of TV drama has been tried before (Angel, Forever Knight), so will this one take? Program trailers look very promising and the fact that Mick St. John (Alex O’Loughlin) is only supposed to be about 80 years old brings a little more validity to the concept. Somehow unrequited love between a vampire and a mortal woman still intrigues us...
TV by KP: Having seen the premiere I'm curiuos how far this show will make it. The acting didn't wow me but the story of vampires in general public is always interesting. There's some silly stuff, such as watching Mick St. John try to avoid the sun coming through the limbs of trees, but for the most part they did the vampire stuff without being too crazy. The best acting was, without a doubt, from Jason Dohring who has seasons of Veronica Mars under his belt.

Show: NUMB3RS
Premiere Date: September 28th
Time: 10:00PM EST
TwoCents Staff Returning Drama Rank: 21 of 25
TwoCents Staff Writer: KP
Starring: Rob Morrow, David Krumholtz, Judd Hirsch, Alimi Ballard, Navi Rawat, Dylan Bruno, Diane Farr, Peter MacNicol
Premiere Description: "Trust Metric" - Agent Colby Granger lands in prison after the discovery that he was a mole within the FBI, but he escapes, and it's up to Don and his team to track him down and uncover the truth, on NUMB3RS.
TV by KP: I love this show. It's smart, witty, action packed and incredibly acted! Look at this cast. Rob Morrow (Northern Exposure), David Krumholtz (The Santa Clause), Judd Hirsch (Taxi), Peter MacNicol (Chicago Hope/Ally McBeal). Add in Navi Rawat, Diane Farr and Dylan Bruno and wow. This show is very good and it hides away on Fridays, which is a shame. I look forward to this new season and I hope you tune in!
