Since we last saw Oceanside Wellness, Charlotte and Cooper have gotten back together, but then he moved in with Violet. She’s pregnant, but is unsure whether it’s from Pete or Sheldon’s. Addison’s brother Archer has moved to L.A., begun dating Naomi and is having seizures caused by inoperable parasitic bugs - in his brain.
Last week started a three-week overlap of story lines between Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, so if this gets a bit confusing … that’s just because, well, it is! Be sure to check out our recaps of Grey’s Anatomy so you can keep up!

The doctors at Oceanside Wellness have decided that a vote is in order to decide who will be in charge of the practice...Sam or Naomi? Both campaign to the staff for their own reasons & then go off in verbal attacks on one another while driving the rest of them crazy...sound familiar? The perfectly timed episode airing the week before the election touched on a lot of issues that we're struggling with right now. It's all about things that have happened in the past & choosing to move on. And all in the box of the practice all tied up with a nice Addison-red ribbon.

This episode of Private Practice was all about talking about not talking.
Sam & Naomi are having sex. But they're not talking about the fact that they're divorced & having sex again out of a weird psychological need of Naomi's. They are instead discussing the budget for the practice.

Last week when the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy aired on Thursday night I left thinking, “WHERE did the writers of this show go & can I get the two hours that I just wasted on this show refunded?” Then Private Practice aired tonight & duh…the writers didn’t leave Seattle Grace. They just fled to LA with Addison to join the new ab-fab doctors in the sparkly roller coaster that is Shonda Rhimes universe.

Well, hope is renewed for "Private Practice." It's the first day of rain in sunny Los Angeles & Addison is reminded of what she left behind in Seattle. She runs into work yelling at the receptionist,"It doesn't rain in LA!!!!!!" She admits to Naomi that she felt like her new start in Los Angeles would be special & new as she realizes that she does not fit in the new city. The show got off to a fast start by introducing THREE new medical cases!
1) A woman whose nose won't stop bleeding.
2) A girl who is blue. "Cornflower" to be precise.
3) A 35 year old woman who has never had sex but finds out that her va-jay-jay is broken.

"Private Practice" Recap & Review - "In Which Sam Receives an Unexpected Visitor"
Private Practice"In Which Sam Receives an Unexpected Visitor"
Original Air Date: October 3, 2007
Laura Ann - TwoCents Staff Writer
Last night was the airing of another episode of "Private Practice." I cannot hate this show. The reason I cannot hate this show is because my absolute favorite character from "Grey's Anatomy" is the star of it. "Private Practice" has a great cast of actors but unfortunately it has a pretty pathetic cast of characters.
Kate Walsh's "Addison" is superb as always even though she is a brunette now & not a fiery redhead (booo!!) & Taye Diggs' character is so much fun that I wish Addison's character would get with him instead of Dr. McDowner with the dead wife & no emotions.
The reason that "Grey's Anatomy" was so apt at pulling at its viewers emotions is that it had an ensemble cast of characters of all ages & a rainbow of personalities to conflict with & love each other. "Private Practice" is lacking because none of the bored middle aged people who star in it have anything to offer except being boring middle aged people.
Last night's episode focused around the team working at the practice & dealing with Taye Diggs' having befriended a stripper with a mysterious rash much to the chagrin of his ex-wife Naomi. Unfortunately, these two characters are way too underdeveloped & slightly bland together in order for the audience to REALLY care about their relationship. It got lost among random open ended conversations with all of the other key characters in the show.
Towards the last half of it, Shonda Rimes' classic heart tugging plots came into full force when the story of two couples with newly born infants was put into play. One infant has a deadly disease & will not live past the age of 5. The other infant is totally healthy. The dying infant is found to have been switched in the nursery. The climax is when the two mothers have to switch the babies that they have loved as their own (not knowing any different) since they were born. I was in tears because both mothers were in tears because to THEM they were giving away their children to complete strangers when they were forced to switch back in the end. The biological mother of the dying infant divorced her husband because he was the one who switched the babies after having seen the sick one seizing in the nursery.
The very end of the episode dealt with one tiny flirtation between Addison & McDowner. She got a little sassy & he asked if she needed to be kissed again. She quickly unsassed herself & that was the end of that. All in all it's not a bad show. But I expect more of Shonda Rimes. If she's going to take a beloved character out of a hit show then make sure the show that she is transferred to is worthy of her.

"Private Practice" Recap & Review - "In Which We Meet Addison, a Nice Girl from Somewhere Else"
Private Practice"In Which We Meet Addison, a Nice Girl from Somewhere Else"
Original Air Date: September 26, 2007
Gargy - TwoCents Staff Writer
This Grey’s Anatomy spin-off starts out in the Chief of Surgery's, Dr. Richard Webber, office at Seattle Grace Hospital. There we find Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery (Kate Walsh) explaining to him why she needs to leave, needs a change and introduces, by proxy, her co-workers. She has figured they are all pretty much suitable people for their individual fields of practice, yet she failed to notice they aren’t too proficient at their personal lives. Some obscure reference to the opening credits of The Mary Tyler Show, I wasn't even born when that show was on the air, and they hug good-bye but not good-bye/more of a “see you later” type things.
Loving the scenery of LA, Addison’s and Dr. Sam Bennet's (Taye Diggs) beach houses are a big plus, but the moving boxes and dancing naked in front of your open window (that your new neighbor – a co-worker - can see in to) is probably not the greatest of ideas. Dr. Sam is livid now as he just found out that his ex-wife, Naomi Bennet (Audra McDonald), hired Addison without telling anyone at The Oceanside Wellness Center and without an actual vote.
We get to The Oceanside Wellness Center (which will be OCW from now on). Addison remembers William “Dell” Cooper (Chris Lowell) from her previous trip down to LA, the surfer dude who wants to become a mid-wife but is also the receptionist. Naomi gets interrupted by Addison and Sam, as she tries to attend to her patients Ken and Leslie arguing about Ken donating sperm. Whilst waiting and watching Sam and Naomi duke it out proverbially through a glass wall, Addison lets it slip, that she is now working as their OB/GYN, to the resident psychiatrist Dr. Violet Turner (Amy Brenneman), the herbalist Dr. Pete Finch (Tim Daly), and the pediatrician, Dr. Cooper Freedman (Paul Adelstein) ... who all, except for Cooper, take it with surprise and a little discouragement.
Naomi shows Addison the OCW, while reassuring her that everything will be alright. After holding a meeting in Pete's herbalist office, the rest of the team corners Naomi and Addison with their concerns and that they all agreed to have equal votes regardless of Naomi having the bigger share. They get distracted by the overly exuberant moaning of Ken's attempt at sperm donation. This is one problem Ken doesn't get to solve because he has a stroke and is rushed to the hospital where he is pronounced dead by the Chief of Staff of the hospital, Dr. Charlotte King (KaDee Strickland). Leslie takes issue with getting Ken's sperm, a little too loudly for the ER.
A big “how was your day, this was mine” type deal happens in the OCW's break room between Cooper and Violet. Addison comes in just in time for Violet to get a 911 page. Dell comes in to let Addison know she has a patient, her first patient at the OCW.
Back at the hospital, Sam and Leslie have a heated conversation with Charlotte about the legal rights of procuring Ken's sperm...Charlotte is one cold lady. At the OCW Lucy Henderson, a patient of Cooper's, is Addison's laboring mother to be, however Cooper doesn't do the gynee-squad (aka-OB/GYN team). But “Laboring Mothers Love Pete” is scrubbing in. At the hospital Naomi shows up, finds out that Charlotte has made Sam mad, and soon finds herself irked with the not-so-good Chief. Another crisis at the OCW, Dell wants to help Addison because he needs the hours for his mid-wife classes.
Paul, a management type at a mall-type department store, has called Violet about his sister Jenny, whose having a psychotic melt down right in the middle of the store. She's counting tiles on the floor. Violet removes one of Jenny’s cotton and surgical tape plugs from her ear and informs Jenny she is being charged by the hour, so Jenny might as well be able to hear Violet.
In the Birthing Room, Lucy is trying to explain to Addison and Pete that her father's mad at her because she messed up by getting pregnant. Dell steps in, still demanding to be able to help. Dell ends up noticing that during the actual beginning of labor that Lucy has passed out despite Pete's acupuncture treatment to help with the contraction pains. They stop the birthing because the breathing is distressed as well as the fetal heartbeat, putting both mother and baby in danger. At the hospital, Naomi is vehemently showing the legal proof that she and Leslie have every right to Ken's sperm. One problem Ken's ex-wife, Maria, has shown up calling Leslie a tramp and that she wants Ken's sperm for herself.
At the mall, we find Violet unsuccessfully trying to break through to Jenny, and ends up flat on her back after physically trying to get Jenny to look at her. Problem back at the OCW - the ambulance won't be in time, Addison has to perform a C-Section right there in a non-sterile environment. Addison extracts a beautiful baby girl and hands the baby to Lucy's dad who’s now not even remotely upset. He is still concerned for Lucy because his wife died giving birth to Lucy. The ambulance arrives to take mother, child, and grandpa to the hospital.
Cooper comes to help out Violet with Jenny. Violet attempts to question Paul about where in the store Jenny started to freak out. They go to the camping section and survey a video of a happy family camping. Turns out that Jenny and her husband took their son, who was dying from an inoperable brain stem tumor, camping just weeks before he went into a coma. Jenny took him off the ventilator and held him for four long hours while Jenny's son breathed on his own until he finally died. Cooper and Violet help Jenny understand that she did everything a great mother should've done and she is not to blame for her son's death. I cried while watching that, I remember a few months ago I had another cat that died (quickly thank God) from FIV complications-that nearly killed me, I don't even want to imagine what it would be like to loose a child, I gave life to, like that.
Maria lets go of Ken by allowing Leslie to have Ken's sperm, and that helps Naomi let go herself of her past marriage to Sam. It was a great day all around. Addison shuts her curtains on Sam and dances naked, again.

TwoCents Fall Preview - Wednesdays (ABC)
Wednesdays nights we'll be watching the following on...
ABC
Show: Private Practice
Premiere Date: September 26th
Time: 9:00PM EST
TwoCents Staff New Show Rank: 2 of 26
TwoCents Staff Writer: Gargy
Starring: Kate Walsh, Amy Brenneman, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Audra McDonald, Paul Adelstein, KaDee Strickland, Chris Lowell
Description: From Shonda Rhimes, the Golden Globe-winning creator of "Grey's Anatomy" comes a story about finding a way to begin the rest of your life. Addison Forbes Montgomery is a renowned surgeon. Having left behind Seattle Grace Hospital, a broken marriage with Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd, and her torn relationship with Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, Addison moves to Los Angeles for sunnier weather and happier possibilities.
Gargy's TwoCents: Addison Montgomery has had it up to here with all the Mc"this and what have you's", interns sleeping with attendings, interns sleeping with residents, interns sleeping with interns, and she's just wanting to dance naked and free for once in her life. So, she packs it up and moves to LA and Oceanside Wellness enter. Naomi hires Addison without running it by a vote, everyone is hurt and upset by it. Dell just wants to practice mid-wifrey (is that even a word?).
Show: Dirty Sexy Money
Premiere Date: September 26th
Time: 10:00PM EST
TwoCents Staff New Show Rank: 6 of 26
TwoCents Staff Writer: Shawn P
Starring: Peter Krause, Donald Sutherland, William Baldwin, Natalie Zea, Glenn Fitzgerald, Samaire Armstrong, Seth Gabel, Zoe McLellan, Jill Clayburgh
Description: Power, privilege and family money are a volatile cocktail. Living proof of this are the Darlings of New York City, so absurdly wealthy, they put the “upper” in Upper East Side. This preeminent family are always getting mixed up with the wrong people and finding themselves in the middle of bad situations. It’ll take a miracle to take care of the legal and sometimes illegal needs of the Darling family.
Shawn P's TwoCents: This fall on ABC, Nick George (Peter Krause of "Six Feet Under") steps in for his recently departed dad (death and Krause go together like chocolate and peanut butter) as a personal attorney for the old money Darling clan. The Darlings, led by patriarch Tripp (Donald Sutherland), will need lots of lawyerly love in their quest to out-scandal the Kennedys.
Imagine an American Mr. Belvedere if the Owen's family owned Pittsburgh and Wesley couldn't stay out Page Six. With a name like "Dirty Sexy Money", and a Baldwin brother (William, playing a she-male-loving Senator), it's got to be good. Get all your updates and reviews here on The Two Cents.
Show: Pushing Daisies
Premiere Date: October 3rd
Time: 8:00PM EST
TwoCents Staff New Show Rank: 4 of 26
TwoCents Staff Writer: Andrew G
Starring: Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Ellen Greene, Swoosie Kurtz, Kristin Chenoweth
Description: From Bryan Fuller (“Heroes,” “Wonderfalls”) and Barry Sonnenfeld (“Men in Black”) comes a new series with an unprecedented blend of romance, fantasy and mystery, “Pushing Daisies,” a forensic fairytale about Ned, a young man with a very special gift. As a young boy Ned discovers that he can return the dead briefly back to life with just one touch. But his random gift isn’t without deadly consequences… as he soon finds out.
Andrew G's TwoCents: "Pushing Daises" looks to be the smash hit of ABC's fall schedule. TV Guide says that "ABC has founds its next Lost!" New York Times has called the show "something completely different." With praise like this, it's no wonder we except an awesome program. The story, in a nutshell, is of Ned (Lee Pace), a pie-maker with the ability to bring the dead back to life with one touch of the finger. The catch is, if he touches the person once more, then they are dead permanently. Enlisted by private investigator, Emerson Cod (Chi McBride), Ned begins a career within a unique area of forensics. Ned's skill also comes in handy with his social life. His ability allows him to revive his murdered childhood love interest, Charlotte "Chuck" Charles (Anna Friel). Although a seemingly perfect situation, he runs into the stipulation that he can not touch her ever again, that is, unless he'd like to see her dead permanently. With this original plot line and cast of vivid characters, "Pushing Daisies" looks to be one of the best shows in fall television. My only hope is that it won't need Ned to keep it alive.

With this original plot line and cast of vivid characters, "Pushing Daisies" looks to be one of the best shows in fall television. My only hope is that it won't need Ned to keep it alive.
