The doctors at Oceanside Wellness have decided that a vote is in order to decide who will be in charge of the practice...Sam or Naomi? Both campaign to the staff for their own reasons & then go off in verbal attacks on one another while driving the rest of them crazy...sound familiar? The perfectly timed episode airing the week before the election touched on a lot of issues that we're struggling with right now. It's all about things that have happened in the past & choosing to move on. And all in the box of the practice all tied up with a nice Addison-red ribbon.

The doctors at Oceanside Wellness have decided that a vote is in order to decide who will be in charge of the practice...Sam or Naomi? The medical issues:

A mother thinks her son has autism & after a brief moment of eye contact with Cooper he gets a different diagnosis. Cooper says that it's possible that the boy has a condition where he has seizures in his sleep that have affected his communication abilities & therefore cause him to exhibit traits of autism.

An Islamic girl tells Addison she's been raped & then comes back & tells her that she lied about the rape. She has a boyfriend who is outside her religion but in order to get her parents back to their home country she has to marry a man they have chosen for her. The only way he'll have her is if she's a virgin & so she is requesting a surgery to make her appear thus. Addison is torn as to whether or not to perform the surgery.

Meanwhile, issues from the past start to spring up & freak everybody out. Pete has a lady friend from his time in Doctors Without Borders come & rock his world for a while by calling him "Peter" which gets Violet & Addison all twitterpated.

Addison tells Swat Guy that she has rules from previous relationships & wants to wait before they sleep together.

Charlotte & Cooper open up to each other about their childhoods...Cooper remembers why he decided to get into medicine & Charlotte decides to have conversation instead of sex.

Violet's reaction to Addison's description of her new "rape" victim patient who admits to lying strikes a nerve that is never talked about in the episode. It's implied that Violet was raped when she was younger & then nobody believed her when she tried to get help.

By the end of the episode there is a huge surprise...Addison received a nearly unanimous vote to be in charge of the practice.

Although I really liked this episode I'm anxious to see change in the characters & their relationships. I feel like every single week Charlotte & Cooper are having talks about how they should talk more. I adore Amy Brenneman as Violet & feel like she's being completely overshadowed & ignored so far. I'm over Sam & Naomi because I want to see Dell either win her or move on to someone else. He's too good of a character to be wasted away with constant angsty pining. I wouldn't mind seeing Pete completely written off the show because wow...he bores me to tears. I love Swat Guy for Addison..he's way cute & is like a gorgeous meshing of McDreamy AND Sloan. Much love abounds. What are your thoughts? Favorite characters? Someone you'd like to see leave the show? Who do you wish they'd hurry up & pair off?

    Episode Grade: B

  2. I liked the episode. In my opinion it's the best Private Practice episode so far. I like that finally Pete got some storyline and they told us something about his past. He is my favorite character. Unfortunately writers of this show focus too much on Addison and don't write enough good storylines for other characters: Violet, Pete, Sam or Naomi. They are wasting some very talented actors. They have great actors like Audra McDonald, Tim Daly and Amy Brenneman and they can't write anything decent for them, so they could show us their fantastic acting skills. I don't get it.
