TV In Trouble?

See ya Chuck! Buh Bye Life! Adios Kings!

Well, not yet, but according to this story on Yahoo, those shows could be in trouble!

"1. "Chuck"
In short, this show is clever, all-around fun, with a great cast, stellar writing and lots and lots of heart. And Chuck and Sarah may be the TV couple we most enjoy seeing almost hook up, but not quite. Save that for season five or six."

TwoCents and Five Questions With...

...Anna Torv, Actor

After a two-month preemption, Fringe returns tonight at 9:00 p.m. with the episode “Inner Child” immediately following American Idol. TheTwoCents had an opportunity to chat with Anna Torv, an acclaimed actor in her home country of Australia, about Olivia’s future, Olivia’s past, and the end of the season.

: What were some of the initial challenges, acting-wise, you found stepping into the role of Olivia Dunham?

FIrst Hand Account - New York Comic Con 2009

Ryan O, TwoCents Guest Columnist

My wife and I made New York Comic Con 2009 our first convention.

Before the convention, we took a look at the list of panels and picked out a bunch we'd like to see. We printed out a list of just ones we wanted to see. This was pretty helpful since we didn't have to page through the 100-page official guide to find the room listing for the DC Universe panel. It also let us plan our time a little bit.

We arrived late Friday afternoon and went straight to a panel discussing the latest Batman cartoon, "Batman: The Brave and the Bold." One thing we hadn't expected was how much fun it was to watch a favorite show with like-minded people who were laughing when we were laughing. It made our experience that much more fun.

Fringe - Begs the Question - "Safe"

Last night's episode of Fringe had the Dysfunctional Scoobies trying to solve a string of bank robberies where the culprits seemed to walk through walls, getting a touch of the radiation sickness while doing it.

Not such a stretch for Fringe, but the weird part was what they were stealing: components of a time/space machine that Walter had invented to save Peter when he was sick as a child.

What? Yeah.

Think of it as a machine that does what Hiro does on Heroes, without all the hero's journey commentary (and cuteness).

Which begs the question...

If you could get your hands on this machine, who would you bring through it? Remember, you can't go through the machine yourself, but you can pluck out any person from any time and any place.

So who is it? Put your picks in the comment section below... we won't judge!

Welcome back Fringe-itas! Fringe-lets? Do we as a collective fandom have a name as cool as ‘X-Philies’ yet, or will that take a couple seasons? What do you think a good name for the fans should be? You ponder that, and I’ll recap the episode.

TwoCents and Five Questions With...

...John Noble, Actor

Dr. Walter Bishop is crazy. But he is also very loveable (I, personally, want to buy him a Root Beer) and a sometimes bit scary (I would not want him to be my doctor), depending on the time of day you talk to him. John Noble plays Walter to a tee on the hit series Fringe, which airs Tuesdays on FOX at 9:00 PM EST. John took some time to sit down with us and talk about the show, his character, and, of course, Gene the Cow.

Question: How do you approach the character of Walter and how much fun is he to play?

First off sorry this is posted so late, my computer has been on the fritz for the past four days and I got behind on everything. Ok, lets get this show on the road…..

The episode opens with a white van screeches to a stop and men in hazmat suits dump a woman out onto the street. Dazed and more than a little confused she stumbles into Holly’s Diner. The cute waiter gives her some soup and call the police because he believes she got herself into some trouble.

After two weeks Fringe is back with the most consistent episode thus far, and the most likeable test subject. So without further ado, lets……

Meet Joe.

Joe is late for work. Joe listens to REO Speed wagon’s ‘Cant Fight This Feeling’ on his ancient portable cassette player. Joe is constantly frying out his work equipment. Joe has a bunch of pictures of his coworker (Bethany) on his cell phone. Joe is not a stalker, his is in love.

“So much is about to happen.”

Walter's words spoken in the middle of the episode provide the perfect start to this review.

The episode opened with a weird hairless man ordering a rare roast beef sandwich with eleven jalapenos on the side. He observes the construction going on across the street and takes notes in a strange language.

This was hands down the best episode of Fringe so far. Funny quotes, gross out moments, deception, a funeral, and we were introduced to SuperJuniorAgent Astrid.

WHAT HAPPENED

The episode opens with a man half crying, half confessing to a priest. He can see things, *cue flash to a business man boarding a bus, camera takes notice of a brunette woman clutching a blue backpack and a lovey-dovy couple recording themselves.

TwoThoughts at TheTwoCents: Fringe

TwoThoughts at TheTwoCents: Fringe
"The Same Old Story"

Original Air Date: Sept 16, 2008

Rachel - TwoCents Senior Staff Writer
rachel@thetwocentscorp.com

1. Fringe has just about reached my gross-out threshold and it's only the second episode. From the flesh-ripping, bone-splintering sound effects in the opening "labor and delivery" scene, to the eyeball extraction: I watched the whole thing with either my hands over my ears or my eyes. Nasty but very X-File proud. Speaking of eyeballs (and X-Files)...

2. Reading the last image before death off of the retina of an (obviously) dead person? Yeah, I know it's science fiction and all, but, really? Seriously? That went a bit too far. Yet, as a whole, this was a fun episode. Guess I'm sticking with it...

So what do YOU think? Give us your Two Cents and we'll use it to install seat warmers in our car. (I am SO with Dr. Bishop on that one!)

TwoThoughts at TheTwoCents: Fringe - Pilot

Fringe
"Pilot"

Original Air Date: Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Rachel - TwoCents Senior Staff Writer
rachel@thetwocentscorp.com

So, Fringe. I liked the X-File-Lost-Terminator-Silence-of-the-Lambs-Seven vibe, and you know a J.J. Abrams joint that starts with a plane in an electrical storm is gonna be good. Here are my two thoughts on the whole thing:

1. All X-Philes and Creekers should be happy: It has the potential of both monster-of-the-week and intricate mythology episodes, plus that snarky Pacey Witter. Seriously, I can NOT call him anything but Pacey. I don't even remember his Fringe character's name.

2. Clearly, the creators have embraced the science fiction of it all (did you see that prosthetic?). My only fear is that in that embrace, the audience will either be completely lost or be spoon fed convoluted story lines. Dear Fox: I am educated but not an astrophysicist. Please treat me as such. Thank you.

What do YOU think? Give us your Two Cents and we'll use it to buy "An Idiot's Guide to the Fringe Sciences."
