The second season finale of Brothers & Sisters sure doesn’t feel like a finale. Not much happened in the episode, no major arc was resolved, and there was no cliff-hanger. That being said, it was an enjoyable episode, and perhaps, the only finale aspect that it had was that it ended with a wedding. But not just any wedding, a “Commitment Ceremony” wedding.

Scotty and Kevin take the final large step in their relationship. In a lovely ceremony free of Kevin Walker cynicism, they have a real wedding. Even though Kevin begged her not to, Nora goes all out and spruces up the living room with fresh floral arrangements from her own garden. Kitty gives a lovely speech officiating the wedding, and Robert and Tommy offer up their wedding rings on a temporary basis (Kevin and Scotty didn’t plan accordingly). But perhaps the most touching moment of the wedding is the extra effort that Kevin put in to make it special for his partner.

Scotty’s parents refused to show up for their sons’ ceremony, so Kevin, instead of having a stag party (it was lesbian night anyways), drives with his brothers to Arizona to confront the Wendells. They love their son, but they can’t be expected to attend a ceremony for a wedding that’s not even real. Kevin leaves resigned, but not before being stopped by Scotty’s father. In a moment of compassion, Scotty’s father presents Kevin with a box to give to Scotty, inside are the cuff-links he wore to his wedding – he promised to give them to Scotty to wear on his wedding day. After witnessing the lovely ceremony, Saul is moved, and comes out to all the rest of the Walker Clan, and Robert and Kitty move past their rut, and decide to adopt.

Now that Rebecca is no longer a Walker, Sarah is determined to find out who that baby is in the picture that she thought was Rebecca. As is revealed in flashbacks with Kevin and William, the baby in the picture is a little boy named Ryan, the youngest son of a food lobbyist that William was more than chummy with. Now, Sarah doesn’t have a case against Holly to get her out of Ojai foods and her life.

Even though the whole family now knows that Rebecca is not biologically related to them, they’re still willing to accept her into their lives – especially Nora and Justin. After Kevin lets it slip during the road trip that Justin had the hots for Rebecca, Tommy gives him some advice, telling him that the two of them had a good thing going, and that he shouldn’t let it go. So at the wedding, they come to an understanding, starting at square one. But Rebecca isn’t willing to do that. She can’t. There’s a reason she’s still part of the family, and as the episode wraps up, her and Justin share their first kiss on a mountaintop overlooking the ocean. And perhaps, un-strangely enough, it’s not weird at all.

A lot has been set up for what’s going to happen in the next season, the biggest question of course being the new Walker member, Ryan. William Walker really enjoyed having his trysts, I guess it’s true that sex is different for men than women. But I think what I’m the most excited about, is how the rest of the family is going to take what’s going on with Justin and Rebecca, I mean, I know they’re not siblings anymore, but that doesn’t mean that some of the family isn’t going to find it strange. Hmm, maybe it’s time to go searching for the season three spoilers and episode synopsis’ already. . . after all the cast is filming the first few episodes of the new season already.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for now, any questions, comments, concerns?
