TURKEY! TURKEY! TURKEY! Want to know how many times I can say turkey before you hate me? A lot. So, I’ll just tell you this episode is all about the turkey. That’s right, it’s Thanksgiving on Gossip Girl. I’m expecting lots of Blair sized temper tantrums with sides of mash potatoes and for dessert: Hot pie!

It appears little Miss Diva-In-Training Jenny has moved in with Agnes’ family. Rufus doesn’t seem phased by this whatsoever. Dan heads out of the apartment to meet his Professor who wants to write him a review for Yale. Back in rich land, Blair is planning her 18th birthday with her crew. She lets us know that her mother has a new boyfriend. Mom boyfriends! Score! Serena half listens to the group as she runs off to meet Aaron.

Jenny or should we call her Jenny “I’ll Strip For Free” Humphrey? Jenny has practically bought all the clothing materials and thread in New York. She works on dresses as Agnes straightens up and tells her how great leaving Eleanor’s pad was. They explain their way out the last episode and Jenny’s making out session with Nate. Still NO on NANNY, by the way!

Blair. Whoa girl. Chuck really isn’t interested in you anymore. Remember? Blair wakes up after having a risqué dream about her and Chuck in the backseat of a limo. In Brooklyn, Jenny and her new terrible rocker-chick haircut are having a mini meltdown over some fabric a group of Italians won’t send her. Jenny won’t slow down. She’s late. She has to pee. She’s forgotten her homework, until a half naked Nate stops her coming out of the bathroom.

Serena enters to a quiet breakfast table. Bart has returned home and Serena seems far from happy. Apparently to make good on his absentee nature he’s brought gifts for all. While Chuck received cash in his off shore account Eric was presented with a watch. Serena gets a suit from Bart that Lily wants her to wear to the house warming party. Bart has also laid on some ground rules. Every Friday the family must eat dinner together and a curfew of 1 am is in order.

Blair donned in 1800s old garb stutters her way through old-fashioned dialogue. Serena enters talking perfectly of course. Phew. A dream. An odd dream at that. Blair wakes up annoyed about her life…because it has Serena in it. We learn that Blair is taking a trip to Yale and is going to charm the Dean at his big welcome party he hosts at his house.

A party. Yes, what else would start Gossip Girl? It’s fashion week, where we see lots of pretty people at parties and lots of pretty models walking down lots of pretty runways. We are at Eleanor Waldorf’s studio where she’s getting her models ready for her own show. Blair has been given the lucrative task of seating “who’s who” at her mother’s show. Blair loves all this power. Jenny and Dan talk about how invisible each other are at school now. Boo-hoo. Get over yourselves; life is much harder than this Gossip Girl backstabbing world. Dan asks Jenny why she isn’t in her French class and she lies and says her sub is always late. But, as you remember little J has been ditching school and heading over to help Eleanor Waldorf.

Oh. The. Memories. Bad ones too! It’s the first day of senior year for the Gossip Girl crew. Lily is back. Finally. The rich take the longest vacations ever. I wish I were rich. Anyway, Lily talks about her honeymoon as Serena gushes. Chuck enters trying to be a bit up a kiss-up to his new step-mommy. Serena seems to be stalling. She doesn’t want to go to school to face to crowds. As you remember, she and Dan broke up the episode prior. Chuck is freakin’ awesome. He tries to make Serena feel better about her break-up, by calling her a Queen who deserves better.

Whoooosh. Did you just hear that? That’s summer closing. Welcome back, I mean if you survived the insanity that was last week get ready for today. Blair thinks it would be all kinds of romantical and hot if she and Marcus recreated the library scene from Atonement (*crickets chirping* haven’t seen the movie). But, Marcus being the Lord that he is wants to treat her like a lady rather than like Keira Knightly apparently.

Summers over. Didn’t it just start? We ended episode one of the second season with Dan and Serena on the beach and guess what? We start with episode two with Dan and Serena on the beach. But, this time its different. How is it different you ask? At night they were clothed and in the morning they were not so much clothed. Um, isn’t that illegal? Serena wakes up confused about the night before not knowing where they stand. Serena exits the beach leaving Dan alone.

Gossip Girl Tease
“Never Been Marcused”

Lord Marcus might have some ‘splaining to do. Our Lord Hottie has quite a few dirty little secrets. Lords can’t ALL be perfect can they? And when we meet the MOM (Mother of Marcus) heads will spin. On the other side of life, Nate and Serena seemingly get closer, while Chuck and Lord Hottie strike an unusual bond. Blair in the meantime makes a revelation.

I’m not one for Marcus sadly, but I think I like where they’re taking this character. What do we all think of our new Lord? Jot it down here! I'll be back with the full recap & review soon!

Whoa. It wouldn’t be the first two seconds of the first episode of season two without sex right off the bat. Nate and someone, um, “older” are getting to know each other in a car. Chuck (the love of all our lives – the reason I watch this show) hangs ten by the beach with not one, or two, but three brunettes. Yes, our lovely Chuck is back. Chuck thanks his lucky stars for just being him when he receives a text from Gossip Girl on Blair. He’s intrigued by what he sees, but he blows off the text for his girls. Serena enters the beach disgusted as she passes her new stepbrother.

Gossip Girl's Tease - "Summer Kind of Wonderful"

Gossip Girl
“Summer Kind of Wonderful”

Alicia - TwoCents Staff Writer

alicia@thetwocentscorp.com

Welcome to Season 2, ladies and gentlemen. This season on Gossip Girl, we’re going to get lots of hotness from our favorite Non-Judging Breakfast Club says Blair. What I’m hoping to is to tease the episode and then give you some lovely goodness. On our very first episode back from break we find our lovely bunch hiding out in the Hamptons. Chuck is trying to get Blair and everyone else is just trying to get with each other. Remember in May where everyone ended up with someone else? Yeah well, that was just the beginning. Don’t be surprised if those pairings don’t exactly work out.

Oh Mother Chucker! I'll be back later this week with the full episode recap / review , but in the mean time give me your own two cents about what you think will happen this year or what you want to happen.

Has anyone ever been to Mexico? What about twice in the same day? Did you ever leave some there you shouldn’t have? Did you ever go in search of a family member who has escaped police custody? You have! You’re just as crazy as the Bluth family in their second season.

“Big Yellow Joint, big yellow joint…” Yes that’s exactly what it sounds like. On this very special episode of our favorite show, we learn drugs + the Bluths = well, a regular day for them, but crazy one none-the-less. Michael is very disappointed when his son George-Michael comes home with an A- on a test. While on the opposite of the parenting Richter scale Lindsay (Michael’s twin sister) could honestly care less her daughter Maeby got a C- on her test. Michael tells Lindsay it might be good to have boundaries for her child, while Lindsay blasts back that Michael has TOO MANY for his child. Lindsay says Michael is just as horrible as their father was while they were growing up. Their father George Sr. used to hire a one-armed man named J. Walter Weatherman, to teach them very important life lessons (whether it was Michael spilling ice cream in the car, or not leaving a note, etc, J Walter would always loose his fake arm to scare the kids).

Sometimes I believe that prison is better than my life. George Sr. plays the softball game of his life, as Michael anxiously tries to coax out of his father information that would help get him out of jail. But, to no luck, George is having too much fun playing! Michael returns to the office and is greeted by Kitty (played by the amazing Judy Greer), his neurotic secretary. We learn she was first George’s secretary who was fiercely loyal to him in everyway.

Marta, Gob’s a real winner, isn’t he? You play the part of devoted girlfriend, but when it comes time for your day in the spotlight he really does forget the little people who made everything possible. Life isn’t fair isn’t it? While you get yourself nominated for a Daytime Desi (Daytime Emmy for Spanish Soap Opera Stars), he decides it’s key to perform his little magic tricks to get back in with the Alliance. I mean c’mon, seriously, do you really think he’s going to pull it off? I didn’t think so. I don’t see him locking himself up into his father’s prison and escaping unharmed.

Oh Cornballs! No I didn’t just curse at you. The Cornballer is a Bluth family device used to make delicious, but harmful cornballs. George Sr. had tried to market this product in the late 70s, but failed when it kept burning people. It was later outlawed in the U.S. and Mexico.

Welcome to Arrested Development, where no matter what, the Bluth family is always much worse than your own family. We meet the Bluth family on a yacht where they are celebrating the retirement of George Bluth Sr., C.E.O of the Bluth Company.

Enter Michael Bluth. The poor guy has it bad, he’s waited 10 years for his father to make him a partner in the company. Lucile Bluth comes down the stairs from the top deck to tell Michael she can’t believe a group of gay men are staging a protest during her husband’s party. The men protesting are dressed up as pirates (this will later become important). Lindsay Bluth Funke (Michael’s twin sister) can’t understand why her mother is so upset, until she realizes one of the men is wearing the same top she owns. Now she’s mad.

FADE IN THEME SONG:

“Now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything and one son who had no choice but to keep them all together, it’s Arrested Development.”

FADE OUT:

Thank you narrator Ron Howard. You said it best; we have a wealthy family who has lost everything and a son who must keep these people (or more like colorful characters) in check. Yeah…That’s just the beginning….

Raise your hand if you like to laugh! ME! ME! ME! Okay, so how about this, do you like to laugh so hard that it might seem slightly abnormal about how many times it happens in the course of 21 minutes? You do? Then you will love the brilliance that was Arrested Development.
