Serena enters to a quiet breakfast table. Bart has returned home and Serena seems far from happy. Apparently to make good on his absentee nature he’s brought gifts for all. While Chuck received cash in his off shore account Eric was presented with a watch. Serena gets a suit from Bart that Lily wants her to wear to the house warming party. The soccer team at school has asked Dan to try out. Vanessa seems off put by this, but tells Dan of her protest to save a bar. Serena is going off on her Mom via Eric. Her brother begs her to try to make this work for Lily’s sake. Blair and Chuck have their annual fighting match. But, Blair can’t stay she has a disciplinary hearing. As she leaves, she runs into Vanessa who is handing out flyers on a protest trying to stop a tear down of a bar. Blair could care less. Now, Vanessa could have just asked Blair for her help in this cause and when Blair said no she could have found some other rich girl to help. Yeah right. Vanessa pulls out the picture of Marcus making out with Catherine and threatens to expose the real reason Marcus left to the whole school. Classy, Vanessa I may not like you, but why make me hate you? I already dislike Serena and Dan.

Chuck tells Serena, Bart is acting all family oriented so she won’t end up on Page Six and embarrass him while he’s trying to close a deal. This in turn causes Serena to put on a revealing dress and give step-daddy a good telling off.

Blair has a proposition for Chuck. He must seduce Vanessa and destroy her. Blair’s theory is that Dan stole his best friend so why not steal Dan’s and bring her down? It’s a win-win for both of them.

Vanessa is at her bar tear down protest getting ready when Chuck pulls up in a limo. He wants to buy the building. Vanessa isn’t buying this and Chuck gets pelted with a pink drink by an average joe. Chuck gets mad and leaves. Looks like this plan isn’t going well.

Dan goes to Nate’s to find his place seized by the government. He breaks in and finds a mat on the ground where Nate has been sleeping. A word from Gossip Girl herself states the obvious; looks like Nate’s the poor one now.

Chuck wants to give up on this Vanessa venture since there’s nothing really in it for him. He wants more. Blair tells Mr. Bass that if he successfully gets Vanessa, he successfully gets her. How very Cruel Intentions of them.

Vanessa comes to see Chuck and lets him know his deal to buy the place and keep it as is, is a noble gesture. She tells him if the manager agrees then her protest group will agree to this deal. But, that doesn’t mean Vanessa will trust Chuck. Nate and Dan walk around the park talking about the Bass house warming party and Nate’s family. Dan tries to work out of Nate what’s going on with him.

Chuck meets the manager who is a little eccentric. He talks of the history and the importance of the bar. From the look in Chuck’s eyes getting this place really isn’t a game anymore. He likes it.

Serena runs into Eric’s boyfriend. She asks if he’s coming to the party. He’s says no because Bart told him it’s only family. Oops bad move Bart. Chuck invites Vanessa to the house-warming party as their deal closes. Looks like an interesting party is in order.

Vanessa arrives and Chuck ditches Blair to talk to his new BFF.

Dan has invited Nate to dinner. Jenny and Dan seem to be convincing him to stay over. Dan eventually tells Nate what he knows and Mr. Archibald gets defensive and leaves.

Vanessa tells Chuck she feels bad for him and he deserves better from his father. He asks Vanessa to stay and talk. Blair looks on. Back in the main party Serena tells a reporter the true “family” she’s in. Full of Mommy issues, coke, and guys named Klaus and Claus.

Blair is jealous and tells Chuck the deal is off. Eric tells Lily that she really wasn’t there for him or his sister. Lily starts to see that maybe she wasn’t the best mother. Um, I think we ALL knew that. Vanessa and Blair have another sparing match. Blair tells her that everything Chuck did was a game. Vanessa is hurt and takes off. Now Blair takes it up a notch and tells Chuck she lost so she’ll be waiting for him. Chuck doesn’t go. He goes to apologize to the manager.

Dan goes to Nate’s to talk and so does Serena. They end up talking about their problems as friends on Nate’s stoop. Ew. Let’s no go down this path again. Bart comes to claim Serena and bring her home. She and Bart get home to an empty party. Eric, Lily, Bart, and Serena sit around and just talk.

Dan brings back Nate to his house. Nate is an honorary Humphrey for the time being. Chuck finally makes his way to Blair. He wants Blair to say “I Love You” like wanted in the Hamptons but she can’t. He gets off the bed and tells her it’s her turn to chase him. Game on.
