Sopranos Salute at Emmys!

Eighteen-time Emmy Award-winning HBO series “The Sopranos” will receive a special musical salute from Broadway’s “Jersey Boys” at the 59th PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS airing live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles Sunday, Sept. 16 (8:00-11:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

“We would be remiss if we didn’t recognize the longtime contribution to television by one of our medium’s most creative and durable drama series, ‘The Sopranos.’ In a keystone segment of this year’s telecast, the cast of Broadway’s hottest show will honor the other Jersey boys with a musical send-off featuring songs from the Jersey Boys’ score,” said Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the 59th Primetime Emmy® Awards.

“The Sopranos,” which recently concluded its six-season run, leads all series with 15 Primetime Emmy® nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (James Gandolfini), Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Edie Falco), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Michael Imperioli), two for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Lorraine Bracco, Aida Turturro), Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series (Tim Daly), Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (Alan Taylor), and three for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (series creator David Chase, Terence Winter and Matthew Weiner and David Chase).

The 2006 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, “Jersey Boys” is a Broadway success story. Taking audiences beyond the music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, it follows the rags-to-rock-to-riches tale of four blue-collar kids working their way from the streets of Newark to the heights of stardom. The show features such hits as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You,” “Oh, What a Night” and more.

The company that owns the building that was used as Satriale's butcher/deli shop on the show is selling off the brick facade.

The building is being knocked down and a condo is going up.

They are going to call the condo "The Soprano".

The Television Critics Association Awards were handed out this weekend.

"In the final moments of Sunday's concluding episode, Tony, the conflicted mob boss who has just survived a round of gangland warfare, sits in a diner with his family munching on onion rings as the 1980s song by rock band Journey, "Don't Stop Believing," blares from a juke box....The biggest hint, according to a consensus taking shape on the Web, is a scene from an earlier episode in which Tony and his brother-in-law, Bobby Bacala, muse about what it feels like to die. "At the end, you probably don't hear anything, everything just goes black," Bobby says while they sit fishing in a small boat on a lake. That scene is recalled briefly in a flashback played at the end of the penultimate "Sopranos" episode, as Tony is lying in the darkened room of a safehouse clutching a machine gun to his chest in the midst of a mob war."

The Sopranos drew huge ratings.

The Tony Awards did not.

Actually, the Tony Awards scored what could be the worst ratings in the history of the show. The really disturbing trend for the producers has to be that the viewership went DOWN as the big awards were being handed out after 10:30pm and people decided even a blow-out NBA finals game was better to watch.

People have debated whether CBS will keep the awards show. I say look for it to show up on PBS or A&E before not too long.

One day after the series finale of The Sopranos, TNT is giving fans of the series a chance to spend the day with their favorite stars when the network presents 12 episodes of the hit drama LAW & ORDER, featuring such guest stars as Edie Falco, who has won three Emmys® for her performance as Carmela Soprano on The Sopranos; Michael Imperioli, who earned an Emmy for his performance as Christopher Moltisanti; Aida Turturro, who earned an Emmy nomination for her performance as Janice Soprano; and Frank Vincent, who plays Phil Leotardo. Two Cents & Five Questions With...

... Todd Judson, Script Coordinator



This Sunday, "The Sopranos" returns for their final new season on HBO.

While the world is waiting to see what will happen with Tony and the "family" Todd Judson took some time out of his very busy job to give us his Two Cents & Five Answers and shed some light on a job BEHIND the scenes at "The Sopranos".

Two Cents: Please tell the Two Cents readers a little about yourself and what you do on "The Sopranos".
Todd Judson: I went to Western CT State and majored in theatre with a focus on acting. I've always been interested in film but after graduation I bounced around aimlessly for awhile. Then in 2001 I decided thats it I'm moving to NYC and I'm really going to give the acting thing a shot. Unfortunatly it didn't pan out that way and I've been working behind the scenes since.
Primary duties on the Sopranos are: Getting scripts and all revisions to actors and crew, and compiling credits which includes placement of actors according to contract language and all the other stuff that goes into what you see with the opening credits before the show starts, actor cards and the crew credit roll at the end of the show. Those are the 2 primary duties and there are all kinds of smaller ones that are too boring to go into.

TC: How did you get started in the entertainment field?
TJ: I got started as a Production Office P.A. doing a few days of work on A Beautiful Mind. From there I went on to The Emperor's Club, Sex and The City and others. A friend of mine recommended me for The Emperors Club but that wasn't starting for a few a week so the person that hired me on Emperors Club recommended me for the additional P.A. slot on Beautiful Mind. It was all about the recommendation from people I work with. It's fairly hard to get a foot in the door by just cold calling it really is all about knowing someone.

TC: What fun websites do you visit for your own entertainment?
TJ: The main websites are IMBD, Playbill, Variety, IBDB, mainly its all film or theatre related websites. Oh and Youtube.

TC: What is your dream job in the 'biz'?
TJ: I have no idea what my dream job is anymore. The fact is film production is pretty gruelling work. 12-14 hour days are the norm so when your working it doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else. But things can also change very fast-1day your a P.A. the next you have a film in development, so who knows

TC: What fad did you totally buy in to?
TJ: I can't think of any fads I've bought into. I'm sure there have been a few. I had a mullet once. Thats embarassing enough for 6 fads.

TC: If someone were to climb off a desert island and only have time to watch five movies to learn what American cinema is all about, what five movies would you show them?
TJ: Tough question. This will change as soon as I [answer] this. Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Chinatown, The Searchers, Raging Bull.
