  1. HUNT + HELICOPTERS = INSANE
Everything seems peachy with Hunt and Christina. But then he gets hypnotized by the fan blades spinning on the ceiling. And suddenly he’s in a daze choking Christina- seriously, choking her. Thankfully Callie comes in and breaks it up. Meredith rushes over when Callie calls. Owen obviously feels awful- even though Christina’s neck is all bruised up. Christina seems to forgive him. And Meredith is her usual judgmental self about it.

Later on in the day, Owen and Derek are on the roof meeting a helicopter. Owen sees the blades and starts to zone out again. Helicopters obviously trigger his PTSD. Meredith continues to convince Christina to walk away but Christina is resilient.

Derek reaches out to Owen but he gets very defensive. He tries to end it with Christina- for her own good- but she insists they stay together. In fact, they close out the episode with a pretty steamy Owen-Christina love scene. I think I need to find a girl of my own to re-enact that steamy love fest! RAWR!!

Unfortunately, though, Christina lays up at night and then confesses that she can’t do it afterall- she can’t be with Owen- because she’s laying there in his arms and she’s afraid to fall asleep. Owen then decides to take Derek up on his offer and take a look at his brain which may be able to help him with his Iraq War trauma.

    IZZIE
All the doctors are called in and we meet Izzie’s Oncologist who will basically be leading the charge. Apparently, they are also going to try and harvest some of izzie’s eggs to keep babies an option. The Chief runs by Alex the fact that eggs have a better chance of surviving if they are fertilized and without any thought he demands a cup. But when it comes down to it Alex seems to be having problems. Alex is having serious doubts about Izzie’s survival and it’s eating him up inside. He opens up to Meredith about how he knew Izzie was seeing ghosts and still didn’t think maybe something was wrong with her- and now she’s stage four.

Derek is prepping- doing some kind of Zen with his tools- but his hands are definitely shaking. Remember this is his first day back and he’s got to operate on his friend and colleague. Alex eventually delivers the cup- while the Chief is eating his lunch! All of Izzie’s friends are eating lunch when they realize none of them have actually visited Izzie.

Callie confides to Arizona that for months she wished Izzie would die every day (recall, when Callie and George were married, George had an affair with Izzie). Callie obviously feels guilty about this.

Ok, Derek is scrubbing in and we’re ready to roll. He comes out, though, to get reassurance from Meredith- but she gives him something better- her confidence in him. Alex runs to Izzie’s room but realizes she’s already in the operating room. Despite lots of second-guessing from the Oncologist Derek works his thing and seems to remove all the tumors from Izzie’s brain. Alex crawls into bed with Izzie at night and falls asleep next to her as she recovers.

    DEREK & MEREDITH
At the very end of the episode Meredith is waiting for the elevator. When one arrives the Chief insists Meredith take another one. The next one opens with Derek who has decorated the entire elevator with X-Rays and Scans and Medical stuff that involve their history together. His finale is the post-op brain scan of Izzie- tumor free.

    QUOTES OF THE EPISODE:
Derek: “You say you’re all dark and twisty. It’s not a flaw. It’s a strength. It makes you who you are. I’m not gonna get down on one knee. I’m not gonna ask a question. I love you, Meredith Grey, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you”
Meredith: “And I want to spend the rest of my life with you”

    Meredith: “I’m engaged”
Christina: “I broke up with Owen”

Alex: “Maybe we have to get a little bit messed up before we can step up”

OK, readers, that’s it for me. Give me your two cents? Did you think Izzie was going to make it?
