There are only three episodes left, ladies and gentlemen. Three left to answer all of the questions we still have. While this episode wasn’t the most spectacular, it did set the ball in motion for the end. (Which I’m still not prepared for even though this date has been set for a while.)

There are only three episodes left, ladies and gentlemen. Three left to answer all of the questions we still have. While this episode wasn’t the most spectacular, it did set the ball in motion for the end. (Which I’m still not prepared for even though this date has been set for a while.)

Let’s start with the story line that was the most obvious and straight forward. Boomer’s in Galactica’s brig for shooting the Admiral way back when. The cylons want her extradited to the baseship in order to be tried for treason because she sided with Team Cavil. Now that there’s no resurrection, execution is an option for the toasters. Chief heads down to see Boomer and she confesses to him that she has this perfect little life set up for them in her head and they project together to the house that comes complete with a tween daughter. The idea of this (even though it probably wouldn’t ever happen now) pulls at Chief’s heat strings and he switches Boomer for one of the random Eights helping to repair Galactica. Of course, like most of Chief’s plans this one is completely BAD and Boomer attacks Athena, sexes it up with Helo (who apparently can’t tell the difference between his wife and all the other Eights on board Galactica) and kidnaps Hera (who apparently can’t tell…oh I’ll let it go since she’s a kid.) Putting Hera in a storage container, she’s intent on getting her back to the base star – just like Cavil wanted her to do when he let her escape with Ellen Tigh two episodes ago. Athena manages to get to Helo and it isn’t long before Adama is trying to get Boomer to keep from leaving. She spools up her FTL drive while still inside Galactica and after barely making it off the ship she jumps. She’s still too close to the battlestar when she does it, and she tears a huge hole in its hull. This ship is going down faster than Titanic. The whole kidnapping of Hera does something to Laura and she passes out.

Now, onto the other story line. The one that really made me want to pull my hair out. Kara’s sitting at the bar and eventually bonds with a man playing piano. (Where did they get a damn piano??) Earlier, Hera drew a picture of stars for Kara; just know that for later. Anyway, after heckling the guy for a little while, Starbuck finally sits down with him to talk music. She tells him that her father taught her how to play as a kid and there was one song she used to play that made her happy and sad at the same time. He asks her to play it for him and she shakes her head no; her father walked out on her and never came back, so she never played the piano again. Finally after enough goading, she starts to play but can’t remember it all. Suddenly she pulls out Hera’s picture of stars and wouldn’t you know: They line up perfectly on the sheet music to create the song. Starbuck and the piano player start playing and soon they’re banging out ‘All Along the Watchtower’. WHAT WERE THE ODDS OF THAT? The piano player turns to Starbuck and it’s not at all obvious that this man is her father (or something) and he’s Daniel, the 13th cylon.

What I didn’t like about this episode is that, well, with three episodes left, the writers still have to explain all of this stuff about Daniel and Kara, Laura’s connection to Hera, where humanity is finally going to settle…unless everyone is just going to die in the end when Galactica blows up into a million pieces. And let’s not forget the talk that Sam is the next in line for Hybrid status. The Boomer story line was interesting enough (did Hera’s abduction kill Laura or is this just the start of her downward spiral. Madame President was looking rough) and separately I think the Kara storyline could have carried the entire episode to give us more answers. It’s just a little overwhelming; thinking that with just three episodes left there’s still so much to do.

What did you think? Last week I theorized that everyone would end up back on Kobol. Do you think that’s possible or should I get a new theory in light of recent events? Shoot me an e-mail or leave your Two Cents in the comments!

  2. Remember way back when, when the five were revealed? That scene was inter-cut with Laura and Caprica having a joint vision of the Opera House when Laur and Athena were chasing Hera and Caprica got to her first. I think that this new "All Along the Watchtower" scene with Daniel/Papa Starbuck has even more implications than what we suspect... for starters, I think Laura was having another vision of the Opera House. I think you might be right with the theory that Kobol is where we're gonna end up.

And BTW - poor Chief! He was played like a fiddle! (And so was Helo, I might add! Yowza!)
