How I Met Your Mother returned this week! How did Stella answer Ted's cliff-hanging proposal from last season? The first episode back is filled with secrets, boredom, painting, unrequited love and... Wookies. Interested? Yeah, I thought so. Let's jump right into the recap shall we?
ReplyDeleteSo Stella said “yes” to Ted’s proposal, ushering in a time of peace and happiness. That is until Ted and Marshall (who is unemployed and VERY bored) discover that Stella has never seen Star Wars. I know. In fact, there are many things about Stella that Ted does not know. Say, for instance, her severe allergy to peanuts. After a quick trip to the emergency room, Ted resolves to learn more about Stella and to get her to watch Star Wars.
Meanwhile, poor Barney (fresh out of rehab from that whole getting-hit-by-a-bus thing) is dealing with feelings he has never had before. He’s in… wait for it… love with Robin. He calls on Lily to coach him through this debacle, who is thrilled to hear the Barney actually might have a soul. She arranges an evening with just Barney and Robin and encourages Mr. Stinson to let Robin see the real him. Robin, oblivious to Barney’s feelings, plays wingman, er, girl, and hooks Barney up with a hot waitress. Barney realizes a relationship with Robin is never meant to be. Downhearted, he does what any true Barney-type would do: he sleeps with the waitress.
Back to Star Wars, Stella realizes how important her liking the movie is to Ted. After the viewing, she tells him she “loved it,” but good old Marshall knows better. He corners her and she admits to hating the stupid show and that furry bear that everyone but her can understand. He asks her “Do you actually think you can pretend to like a movie that you hate for the rest of your life?” she does and Marshall realizes that Ted is one lucky man.
