Phil Keoghan. Man, I love him. And it isn’t just because we share the same birthday or the way he turns names that end in an “a” sound into names that end in an “r” sound. He’s just so cool. I was excited for this 13th season of The Amazing Race to kick off, mostly for my man Phil, but also for the backstabbing, clue misunderstandings, and complete breakdowns this new season promises. So what did I learn? Let me tell you…

The Top 11 Things I Learned About the Teams on The Amazing Race 13

    1. Nick and Starr [Siblings]: Forming an alliance early with Ken and Tina was an interesting move. The decision, based simply on first impressions, could really come back to haunt them later, but the alliance finished first and second respectively.
    2. Ken and Tina [Separated]: Ken cheated on Tina. Tina forgave, but Tina didn’t forget. This trip will determine if they stay married or go their separate ways.
    3. Terence and Sarah [Newly Dating]: She is fluent in Portuguese, which gave them a small advantage in Brazil. Terence is fluent in whining, which took the Portuguese advantage away.
    4. Mark and Bill [Best Friends]: Comic book store people may be a little soft, but they are smart and sometimes that trumps strength in this race. Good luck to my two kindred spirits.
    5. Kelly and Christy [Divorcees]: Talk about baggage.
    6. Toni and Dallas [Mother and Son]: Single mother and athletic son – good combination of strength and will.
    7. Andrew and Dan [Fraternity Brothers]: These boys seem to have no social skills other than annoying me. They might not make it far in the race.
    8. Aja and Ty [Long Distance Dating]: They say their strength is the distance between them. What?
    9. Anthony and Stephanie [Dating]: He promises to propose at the end of the race if things go well. No pressure.
    10. Marisa and Brooke [Southern Belles]: The matching pink jogging outfits were almost too much for me. I can’t wait until they have to eat monkey brain or bugs or something.
    11. Anita and Arthur [Married Beekeepers]: People from Oregon are awesome. I know. I’m one of them. Unfortunately, this older couple never got into the groove of the game and arrived last on the mat in Brazil. I barely knew thee…
