Debbie Wilson is missing her fam. Seems that Dixon, Annie and Mr. Wilson are always busy so she demands “family night”. That means that Dixon can’t go to Navid’s to watch the unreleased Bond flick and Annie can’t go on a date with Ty. And of course teens in Bev Hills can’t do fam time on a Friday night so Dixon invites Silver and Annie invites Ty. Ethan shows up at the bowling alley too and totally bonds with Annie. She even has a moment where she gets that look on her face like “Ty who?” well that is until Ty shows up. Then Ty's shoots Ethan an over-the-shoulder “I know the game you’re playing” look. Meow!

Oh and FYI Silver is having family issues – seems good old drunk Jackie Taylor-Silver is so far off the wagon Silver’s been staying in a shelter, until she gets kicked out. Dixon finds her sleeping in her car outside his house after the bowling/bond night. Her secret is out. Apparently the old booze hound Jackie is a violent drunk now. I’m going to assume she throws stuff like the food in the house because that would explain why Silver looks anorexic.

Dixon and Silver bond over the fact the he grew up in craptastic foster homes and she’s got a drunk mom. This would actually be a cool romance if it goes that way. Dixon is way more badass than Brandon Walsh ever was. Harry Wilson tells Kelly who confronts Jackie. Jackie is a trainwreck and Silver goes to live with Kelly.

Oh and speaking of Kelly, she is still dating Mr. Matthews and she opens up about the fact that her son Sam’s dad was someone she “had a lot of history with in high school” who “came back into her life 4 years ago”, tried to support the baby but they had “issues” and now he wants back in. Hmmm….. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say baby daddy is Steve Sanders. Why? Because Brandon would not leave his baby no matter the issues and Brenda would have stabbed Kelly in the eyeball with a fork if she’d given birth to Dylan’s baby. So yeah, crazy as it seems I’m going with Steve. Plus Ian Zerring is the only male cast member that needs the work. Anyway, the Guidance Counsellor and the English teacher make out. Yawn.

Naomi’s daddy is supposed to take her to Vegas but bails and buys her a car instead. Poor little rich girl is bummed out but heads out in the new car to buy her hard working daddy dinner from NOBU. Turns out daddy was working hard cheating on his wife and Naomi and Adriana catch him. Wow, this is SUCH an original storyline!
And what do you do after watching your family implode? Go to the Lucky Strike bowling alley where Adriana goes to get Ethan and Annie decides to try and help. Her idea of helping is watching Ethan hug Naomi and looking all heartbroken then being all pissy when Ty leaves for a concert without her. Naomi confesses everything to her mom who surprises everyone by telling Naomi daddy dearest has been dating this chick for years and she’s not leaving the marriage.

We end with the Wilson kids realizing how lucky they are to have normal parents and making the breakfast. Awe….Adorable with a capital A.

Episode 2 gets a solid “C-“ grade. While I’m digging the Ethan-Annie thing and it was a trip to see Jackie again, there is still too many characters and it’s lacking the original’s flair and Rob Thomas’ renowned snappy dialogue. Am I right readers? What’s your grade this epi?
