Anyone else want to try Trestling after seeing this episode? For those who missed it, the episode opens with Raj and Sheldon playing Tetris with one hand while arm-wrestling with the other, AKA “trestling”. When Penny comes over to tell them to cut it out, the conversation turns to the fact that Leonard has never had a birthday party. Penny is horrified and decides to throw him a surprise party with the other guys’ help.

Sheldon is initially opposed to the idea, since he hated his childhood parties, but Penny threatens to unwrap his mint condition comic books if he doesn’t help. Later, while setting up, Penny convinces Sheldon to buy Leonard a gift, even though Sheldon doesn’t believe in gift-giving (quelle surprise). Penny drives him to a Best Buy-type store where he ends up answering customer questions and taking over the floor sales before Penny calls security on him.

Meanwhile, Raj is waiting for Howard to get Leonard out of the apartment so he can set up, but Leonard is playing Halo with a boy in a bubble in Denmark and won’t get up. Howard pretends to eat a granola bar with peanuts in it (which he is allergic to) and gets Leonard to take him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he’s forced to delay Leonard even further by actually eating the peanuts, causing his face to... well... it wasn’t pretty. Even more unfortunately, they end up completely missing Leonard’s first birthday party, but Leonard does get another kiss from Penny.

    Best Lines:
Sheldon: Year after year, I had to endure wearing conical hats while being forced into the crowded sweaty hell of bouncy castles. Not to mention being blindfolded and spun toward a grotesque tail-less donkey as the other children mocked my disorientation!

Leonard: Why did you eat it?
Howard: I don’t know, it was just there!
Leonard: Well, if I had a gun there, would you have shot yourself!?

Sheldon: What computer do you have, and please don’t say a white one.

Nurse: Oh, I understand, but unfortunately this hospital is not equipped to treat stupid.
(Howard offers a $5 bill to the African-American nurse)
Howard: How about if I were to introduce you to the man who freed your people?

So what did you think about the second Leonard/Penny kiss? Did you enjoy seeing Penny and Sheldon interact more? Or are you just plain wondering when Leonard’s going to take off his jacket? Leave your Two Cents in the comments.

  2. "when is Leonard going to take off his jacket"....too funny..but your right, when is he? Like I said before, love this show along w/ Ugly Betty. The characters are great...would love to see the bloopers on this show, they have to crack up constantly.Sheldon at the store....priceless!

  3. I read somewhere that Jim Parsons (Sheldon) is a very precise, one-take actor, and I don't know HOW he keeps a straight face the whole time.
