Sorry Marc Cherry, this wasn’t one of your best. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a BAD episode, it just wasn’t as good as it could have been. It seemed to start all right leaving watchers wondering if Mike had finally figured out that Orson ran him over with the car during the Season 2 finale. Instead, it was Mike asking forgiveness for putting Orson’s career in jeopardy. It still wasn’t the kind of opener that would draw in a new viewer, nor is it one that truly stuck in my head. I honestly had to sit here for a minute to remember what had happened.

After the credits rolled, it looked as if things were starting to pick up with all the girls eating at Scavo’s for lunch. The best dynamic of that scene is Gabby and Edie. It’s truly a shame that Marc Cherry didn’t start their relationship sooner than the third season, and then even more of a shame that he ended their friendship so quickly. But their characters are meant to be friends. Then, we’re all surprised when Rick came back into the picture. If you all recall, Rick worked at Scavo’s at the end of the third season while Tom was out with back issues, and he fell for Lynette, as did she for him. He’s back and opening a restaurant across the street which would later have a brick thrown in the window by Tom and then burnt down, most likely by Tom as well.

Gabby’s obsession with all things handicapped was somewhat cute and the fight she had with the men in the wheelchairs was somewhat funny, but still not as good as it could have been. If I ran into a person on the street doing what she was doing I would be very upset about it, but that’s Gabby’s personality and it made it amusing for the show. Carlos’ reaction to Gabby’s behavior is exactly what my reaction would have been.

Susan finding Orson naked in her kitchen and then again outside was great, but in my opinion, acted somewhat dry. Orson’s words seemed very awkward, but I completely understand where they were coming from. The final time he was sleepwalking and Julie heard him apologize to Mike for running him over with his car that was probably the only intense scene the whole episode.

The only part of the episode that I truly enjoyed with every fiber of my being was the new friendship between Bree and Katherine. Up until last night, I wasn’t a fan of Katherine, and I didn’t like her much when she was deceiving Bree with the planning of the function, but in the end, when she took over the announcement of the community member to be the one to honor Bree, there was this feeling of satisfaction that ran over me. Katherine is right, she is the only one that truly understands Bree and everything she works so hard for and I’m very excited to see the dynamic between them in the future.

So, basically, if Marc Cherry were a student of mine in a creative writing class, I’d have to give him a B for effort, but a C- overall for the episode. Next week looks good. I’m excited to see the fight between Tom and Rick, which is a long-time coming and I’m very happy that they’re bringing in another dog, hopefully one that won’t suddenly disappear. Speaking of which, maybe it’s just me, but what happened to Bongo or the Scavo dog? Okay, I just got completely off-topic. I’ll see you all next week!
