After Michael’s stint in the hot box, Lechero starts to describe him as a folk hero to the inmates, which seems to diffuse Sami’s intention of hunting down Michael. But soon, Sami uses the gun that was smuggled in for him to take control away from Lechero. As the men dig in the tunnel, Sami offers a case of rum to the man who brings Scofield to him.

Bagwell manages to convince Bellick to challenge Sami, but the condition is that Bellick is included in the break. Bagwell agrees, and Sami accepts the challenge, but Bellick finds that he is out of the chemicals that he used in his last fight. It will have to be a fair fight, which gives the notable advantage to Sami. As Sami gets closer to finishing him off, two of his henchmen run out to tell him that they spotted Michael, Whistler and Mahone headed through the door to the tunnel. Sami stops the fight to give chase.

Sucre meets with Gretchen for a progress report. He convinces her that Linc is on the level, and she give him a cashier’s check for 25 grand. He also leaves a package in her car: A remote controlled bomb that Linc had purchased on the black market. At their second meeting, she drops the pretense. She knows the fight between him and Linc was staged, she knows about the bomb…and she knows all about Maricruz, which gives her the upper hand on Sucre.

In the tunnel, Sami threatens Whistler in order to get Michael to cooperate. Michael tells him about the escape plan, and Sami wants in. Michael leads him to the section of the tunnel leading up to the surface, and as Sami climbs the ladder, the tunnel collapses and he is buried alive. Later we find out that Michael had sabotaged the structure. Lechero retrieves the body and tosses it from the balcony into the courtyard as a sign that he is back in power. He then takes the rum offered as a prize back to the storage room. Two examples of how dialogue is not always the best communicator.

The fight did not make Bellick a hero, but since Bagwell spilled the beans to get him to play ball, Bellick is able to blackmail his way into the escape. Michael is also approached by McGrady, who offers him the $ 173.00 tht is his life’s savings if Michael takes him along.

The plot grows more and more dense as Sofia finds a sealed metal case among Whistler’s belongings.
Prison Break airs Mondays at 8 PM on FOX. Episodes can also be viewed at the FOX website.
