It’s Veteran’s Day and there’s a big parade in Quahog. Peter enjoys the John McCain experience ride (which consists of being locked in a bamboo cage and poked with poiny sticks until he decides he wants to become president).

Peter is really moved, however, when he sees Mr. Herbert leading his all boys choir in a rousing chorus of Proud to Be An American. He becomes an über-patriot and Brian accuses him of being swept up in post 9/11 paranoia. Peter reminds Brian that 9/11 changed everything and Brian reminds Peter that he didn’t even know what 9/11 wask until 2004.

Down and the Drunken Clam, Peter is really angry with the illegal immigrants who work their busing the tables. He and the gang decide to patrol the borders of Quahog to keep out illegal immigrants. Michael McDonald even pitches in singing backup for all the border patrol.

Brian is pissed because Peter had his acupuncturist deported. Peter thinks he might have been the supreme leader of Al Qaeda, but he was actually only just an 85 year old buddhist from Korea. Brian tries to talk some sense into Peter about how everyone in America came from somewhere else and how immigrants are a valuable part of our economy, but Peter just says he’s part of the rebel alliance and Brian needs to be taken away.

Peter has gone as far as destroying Stewie’s Speedy Gonzales video and replacing it with his Americanized version. Things get really bad when Peter demands his company have proof of U.S. Citizenship from each of the company’s employees.

Peter shows up at his mom’s house to ask for his birth certificate, but she doesn’t have one. As it turns out, she went to Mexico in her 3rd trimester to get an illegal abortion. The abortion didn’t work and Peter was born in Mexico.

Lois tries to get Peter a green card, but he can’t pass the citizenship test. He thinks America is the land of the free and the home of the Whopper. Peter can’t even prove he’s married to Lois and the oral part of the exam turns into 25,000 Pyramid.

Peter tries his hands at a series of jobs that don’t require citizenship. He’s worked seven jobs and he only made $25. Lois gets Peter a job with her wealthy father at his mansion. The Griffins move into a shack on Lois’ father’s property with about seven other families. There’s a big Cindo de Mayo celebration that Lois’ dad breaks up and Peter gets mad and starts a Mexican revolution. They attack the mansion, but Mr. Pewterschmidt tells Peter he can get him his U.S. citizenship with one phone call, so Peter gives up on the revolution and gets his old job back now that he can prove he’s a citizen.
