“Private Practice” is officially my 3rd most favorite show on television right now…following “The Office” and “30 Rock”…”Pushing Daisies” and “Life” are following close behind.

Even though I felt it had a weak start every episode has been better than the last one. This one was no exception. The episode began with Addison inviting the entire staff of Oceanside to her new house over for a party. Instead of RSVPing at her request Sam decides to go on a television show to act as a counseling doctor. That morning at the clinic Addison finds out that the only person who has RSVPed to her party is William the receptionist. William made Naomi a “Wall of Miracles” that included pictures of all the babies that Naomi had helped women give birth to. Addison opens up the wound of her sterility again by finding her file & seeing that Naomi neglected to tell her that Addison has two eggs left. She is not completely sterile.

The three medical subplots of this episode were an elderly couple where the husband would randomly pass out without warning with no other symptoms. A pregnant woman entered the clinic with contractions & a mysterious illness. The doctors soon find out from another hospital that she has Munchausen Syndrome & makes herself ill for the attention. At the same time the woman who Violet’s husband left her for is now a patient of Naomi’s & Violet relapses into obsessing about him. Cooper is helping a kid who tells a friend that he has feelings for him. The kid is only about 9 years old & his friend beats in his face as a result. Cooper takes his lead & decides to tell Violet that he is in love with her. The elderly couple turns out to be having sex in a position that causes the man to pass out whenever that part of his neck is touched. Hahahahaahah The pregnant woman does turn out to be diseased but not just with Munchausen & is allowed to stay at Oceanside Wellness.

Addison & Violet end up confiding in each other about the slim chances of what they want happening actually coming to fruition. Addison desperately wants to be pregnant. Violet desperately wants her ex-husband to still love her. By the end of the episode, Violet finds out that her husband’s new wife was actually there scoping her out & she is given hope that he does still love her. Everyone ends the day by drinking wine in the lobby waiting for Addison to finish. They tell her that they were going to be at her party all along & so they all make their way to her house on the beach. On the way down to the beach Cooper gets some courage & tells Violet that she is unforgettable…because she’s “kinda loud & has lots of curly hair.” The look on Violet’s face definitely says that she likes him back & had no idea he had feelings for her. Adorable.

This episode had plenty of humor a la “Grey’s Anatomy” seasons 1 & 2. The medical cases were weak & not that compelling but the personal lives & chemistry between the rest of the characters were fantastic & wonderful. I absolutely adore William the receptionist. His chemistry with all the women in the clinic is precious & he’s like a surfer boy version of Ryan Gosling. I now have a huge crush on Cooper & still think that Addison is my soul party soul sister of television. If you don’t get that reference youtube “super party soul sister kate walsh” & prepare to laugh really hard. Another episode well done Ms. Rimes.
