Halloween arrives a week early in Seattle Grace time. With Halloween comes the release of baggage. Meredith tries to rid herself of her mother's ashes, letting go of her past. She's really trying for Derek. Ava comes back, and her and Alex end up in the bunk bed together. Norman the old intern has a stroke with in the O.R. and has an epiphany that his deceased wife wanted him to be in the O.R. for it. He then decides he's going to work in psychiatry. Meredith also helps a child "trick or treat" for an ear surgery, pro bono.

Callie becomes hostile to Izzie, but who can blame her? Mark jumps at the chance to be with Callie, but she turns him down. Cristina is also hostile to Izzie, disgusted with Izzie sleeping with a married man. Izzie, in turn, accuses Cristina of not judging Meredith for the exact same thing and confronts Cristina about the Cristina/Meredith friendship and how they block Izzie out. Cristina and Callie are so much so on the same page in the emotional pain department that during the amputation of somebody's perfectly good foot, which he tries to amputate himself with a chainsaw (OUCH, EW, GROSS!), that they bond and Callie moves in with Cristina. Something tells me that this arrangement might not last long.
Welcome Dr. Hahn, well, maybe. Your hostility toward Cristina is a bit cruel, but with the right tone of voice, has the potential of being humorous. I highly doubt you will be able to fill the void that Burke left, but you can try.
Meredith finally finds her mother's resting spot, the surgical sink and the Chief helps her. The Chief and Adele are definitely getting a divorce.
