Blair suddenly wakes up and walks downstairs to find Blair’s mother and Serena having a good time. Chuck and Nate decide to throw a party in their hotel room for those who survived getting through Ivy Week. Serena and Blair decide to spend the day out together shopping. As Blair goes into a store, Serena sees Dan from across the street. Serena casually mentions she wants that date Dan promised her last week. Back at the party, Nate and Chuck talk to their “formally rich friend” Carter who ditched the family inheritance for a free life. He decided to leave the rich life behind and go find himself. Nate is very interested in this life, while Chuck scoffs at how anyone could pass up that money. Back at the hotel, Blair’s mother decides that her daughter will be the new model for her clothing line.
As Serena and Blair hang out, Dan calls and officially asks out Serena. She happily agrees. Nate and Chuck’s crew head to a basketball court continuing their crazy weekend for those who survived. Blair begins her debut as a model with little luck. She’s nervous and stiff according to the photographer. Serena enters the shot helping Blair loosen up. As time passes, she realizes it’s time to meet Dan, but Blair wants to her to stay. Serena ends up calling Dan to cancel their plans. Chuck and company take their weekend of debauchery to a bar. They end up arguing over Carter’s ideals of life. Defeated, Dan returns home and talks to his father questioning whether Serena is worth the trouble. Rufus compares Serena to a girl he dated (Serena’s mother perhaps?). Serena calls Dan and invites him to Blair’s photoshoot.
The photographer and the assistant enter Blair’s mother’s room to tell her the pictures of Blair are not good. Blair is still too stiff and “unapproachable.” In a twist, they show her the pictures they took of Serena. They like her pictures calling her, “fun.” Blair’s mother must decide whether to go with Serena as the new model or keep Blair. Blair’s mother bluntly lets her daughter down. Blair seems unfazed and wants to crash the shoot to see who they replaced her with.
Nate and Carter are playing poker with a couple of shady people. Blair arrives at the shoot and is furious that Serena is the focus of attention. They catfight and Blair runs screaming off. Serena boldly walks up to Blair’s mother and quits. Dan is confused and questions why he even showed up at all. Dan and Serena talk about what happened. Dan wonders if Serena really wanted to be on the sidelines supporting Blair or out there as the star. Dan goes off to find Blair and see if she’s okay. He talks to her about the absence of his mother in his life. He goes on to explain that he wished he had been more upfront with her about his issues with her.
At the poker table, Carter eggs Nate on to bet some serious cash. Nate looses and he realizes Carter was with the shady people from the get go. Nate also doesn’t have the money to cover his loses. As the shady people try to hold him down, Chuck enters and saves the day by paying the money. As Nate goes into his account to pay Chuck back, he realizes that he doesn’t have any money. His father drained his account weeks prior. At the shoot, taking Dan’s advice, Blair confronts her mother. Her mother admits she picked Serena because Blair would have cost her the company. Dan apologizes to Serena for judging her. Dan and Serena make yet, ANOTHER, date, one where Dan hopes Serena will actually show up! Blair comes out and seems warmer to the idea of Dan being around. Blair and Serena walk into the dressing room and use their “five-finger discount” to swipe the clothes off the racks. They dress up and take pictures of each other laughing.
