FOX is Full of Glee!

FOX has ordered 13 episodes of GLEE, an inspiring musical comedy series from Ryan Murphy (“Nip/Tuck,” “Popular”). The one-hour series follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the school’s Glee Club and inspire a group of ragtag performers to make it to the biggest competition of them all: Nationals. The show will debut in 2009 and features a soundtrack of hit songs from past to present.

McKinley High School's Glee Club used to be at the top of the show choir world, but years later, a series of scandals have turned it into a haven for misfits and social outcasts. WILL SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison, Broadway’s “Hairspray”) has offered to take on the Herculean task of restoring the Glee Club to its former glory. Even with the help of fellow teacher EMMA PILLSBURY (Jayma Mays, “Ugly Betty”) [pictured], it won’t be easy since the “brightest stars” of the pitch-imperfect club include KURT (Chris Colfer), a nerdy soprano with a flair for the dramatic; MERCEDES (Amber Riley), a dynamic diva-in-training who refuses to sing back up; ARTY (Kevin McHale, “True Blood”), a geeky guitarist who attracts more bullies than girls; and TINA (Jenna Ushkowitz, “Spring Awakening”), an awkward girl who needs to suppress her stutter before her center stage solo.

FOX Upfront Announcements - Fall 08-09 Schedules

Peter Liguori, Chairman, Entertainment; and Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, today unveiled the FOX primetime schedule for the 2008-2009 television season speaking before the national advertising community at New York City Center.

“Broadcast television needs a jolt. Developement Isn't Arrested for Bateman Directed Pilot

According to the Hollywood Reporter:

"Arrested Development" star Jason Bateman is returning to Fox, this time as a director of the comedy pilot "The Inn."

"Inn," from 20th Century Fox TV, Reveille and Principato-Young, is a multicamera comedy starring Niecy Nash that is described as "Upstairs/Downstairs" set at a hip New York hotel."

FOX's Spring Lineup

Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) has ordered many of its current series back to production and has announced airdates for spring 2008. Among the series slated to return are BONES, BACK TO YOU, ‘TIL DEATH and HOUSE. 24 will also return to conclude production on its seventh season, but the Emmy-winning series starring Kiefer Sutherland will not premiere until January 2009, allowing the drama to once again run 24 episodes consecutively. FOX’s animated series, including AMERICAN DAD, FAMILY GUY and THE SIMPSONS, are also returning to production on future episodes. The following highlights the spring schedule:

FOX's Revamped (Strike Enduced) Lineup

In light of the recently announced strike by The Writers Guild of America, FOX has revised its lineup for January and the remainder of the 2007-2008 season. (The new schedule is subject to change, pending resolution of the strike.)

The highly anticipated drama TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES will have a two-night premiere on Sunday, Jan. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) and Monday, Jan. 14 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the show’s regular time period. PRISON BREAK, which has its last November airing on Monday, Nov. 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), returns to Mondays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) beginning Jan. 14.

The seventh season premiere of 24 is being postponed to ensure that “Day 7” can air uninterrupted, in its entirety.

Television’s No. 1 show, AMERICAN IDOL, returns for Season Seven with a two-night, four-hour premiere event Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Wednesday, Jan. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). New game show THE MOMENT OF TRUTH premieres Wednesday, Jan. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

FOX Premieres Free on iTunes

Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and Apple today announced that for the first time ever, series and season premiere episodes of FOX’s fall series will be available free on the iTunes Store beginning this week. Series include the debuts of new shows BACK TO YOU, KITCHEN NIGHTMARES and K-VILLE, as well as returning favorites PRISON BREAK, BONES, AMERICAN DAD and ’TIL DEATH. These FOX premieres will be available free on iTunes (www.itunes.com) beginning the day after their respective launches for two weeks.

“iTunes customers are going to love being able to purchase new and returning FOX shows on the iTunes Store,” said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes. “We're thrilled FOX decided to kick off the fall season with such an incredible promotion on iTunes.”

Meanwhile, Cam suggests that Angela hire a private investigator to track down her ex-husband so she can annul her previous marriage and marry Hodgins, a task easier said than done in “The Widow’s Son in the Windshield” episode of BONES.

Tom R's Two Cents - We Last Saw: Michael Scofield was confined to Sona Prison in Central America. Theodore Bagwell, Brad Bellick and Alex Mahone are about to join him. Cleared of all charges, Lincoln Burrows and Sara Tancredi may be the ones to break Michael out, while Fernando Sucre needs Bellick free to find his beloved Maricruz.
What We Hope To See: Scofield and Mahone are so evenly matched as adversaries, so it will be interesting to see how they work as a team. Sucre needs to free Bellick. More Maricruz! After everything Bagwell has been through so far, we’d all love to see and epic end to the character. The conspiracy angle should run its course this season.

FOX Makes the Emmys Green!

FOX has finalized its “Green with Emmy” campaign by securing renewable energy for the month of September for the Shrine Auditorium and by installing a solar panel canopy over the Red Carpet grandstands for the 59TH PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS airing live Sunday, Sept. 16 (8:00-11:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. These eco-friendly initiatives will reduce the carbon footprint of the Emmys, as part of FOX’s ongoing effort to reduce its impact on the world’s climate and become carbon neutral by 2010.

FOX, in partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), secured renewable energy for the Shrine Auditorium for the first time in Emmy or Shrine history. The power will be provided by LADWP’s “Green Power for a Green LA Program” and sources will include a combination of solar energy, wind energy and hydropower. In another unprecedented element, FOX will install a solar panel canopy – a UNI-SOLAR® 12.5 KW Solar PV System (www.uni-solar.com) – over the Primetime Emmy Red Carpet grandstand to supplement the power for the red carpet area. The renewable energy source provided by United Solar Ovonic, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENER), will feature laminates installed on 2,700 square feet of slate blue standing seam metal roofing manufactured by Englert, Inc. to form a sun canopy. The solar system will be tied into the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power utility grid and will reduce the amount of power FOX will pull from generators and the LADWP.

After the Primetime Emmys, the solar panel system will be donated to a middle school in Chatsworth, CA. Once permanently installed, the system will mitigate an average of 28,172 pounds (or 14 tons) of CO2 each year (in addition to 120 pounds of SO2 and 60 pounds of NOx), and will generate renewable energy for the next 25 years.

The “Green with Emmy” campaign encompasses all major Television Academy and FOX events, including the Nomination Announcement, the 59TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS arrivals and telecast, the Creative Arts and Governors balls, and the FOX Emmy Awards after-party.

"NCIS" Actress Helps Fine America's Most Wanted

AMERICA’S MOST WANTED: AMERICA FIGHTS BACK teams with actress Pauley Perrette (“NCIS”) on the season premiere Saturday, Sept. 8 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. As AMW kicks off its 21st season, Perrette joins forces with host John Walsh to help find the killers of two young girls.

Like millions of other TV viewers, Perrette is an avid watcher of FOX’s crime-busting series. “I’m the biggest AMW fan, and always have been,” she says. “I talk about it all the time.” But an AMW broadcast this past spring prompted her to do more than talk. The show included stories about the unsolved murders of two young girls, Raven Jeffries in Detroit and Shannon Paulk in Prattville, AL. Perrette has family in Prattville, and her boyfriend is from Detroit. She saw it as a sign. “I couldn’t stop thinking about those two little girls and also how strange it was that it was Detroit and Prattville, his family, my family. It could be my niece, my family, it could have been anybody. It could have been anybody’s kid.”

After Perrette donated $10,000 to the reward fund for each girl’s case, AMW producers invited her to join their investigation. In the episode, Perrette travels to the crime scenes and other key locations in Alabama and Detroit, meets with detectives and learns more about Raven and Shannon’s tragic deaths. She’s calling on her fellow AMW viewers to do their part by sending tips to the show’s confidential hotline, 1-800-CRIME-TV.

"Cops" Almost Old Enough to Drink

20 Years of the police trying to question some crazy guy without a shirt!

Since the pioneering reality series debuted in 1989, COPS has cemented its place in history as one of the longest-running primetime entertainment programs. The 20th season premieres with back-to-back episodes on Saturday, Sept. 8 (8:00-8:30 PM and 8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT), and a commemorative one-hour special, COPS: 20 YEARS…CAUGHT ON TAPE, airs Saturday, Sept. 29 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

This one-hour special will feature classic COPS car chases, super-inebriated suspects, sizzling Tasers, disheartening domestics, problematic perps and gutsy officers from coast to coast. Highlights include:

• Officers in Fresno, CA, question a stony suspect claiming he’s not driving under the influence despite the joint visibly tucked behind his ear.
• In Albuquerque, NM, a male cross-dresser wearing a leopard one-piece is questioned.
• In Buffalo, NY, officers wrestle with a massive and hungry python hiding inside a residence.
• A suspect in Kansas City, MO, is so intoxicated when gets out from behind the wheel, he stumbles and lands a painful face plant.
• In a heroic rescue in Passaic County, NJ, officers save a man from danger in a raging river.

COPS will hit its milestone 700th episode on Saturday, Nov. 10. The series has filmed in over 140 U.S. cities and witnessed over 2,000 suspects arrested. Meanwhile, it has triumphed over many imitators while inspiring a satirical cable series and a feature film.

He ALWAYS Finds Work

You know those guys on TV who just ALWAYS seem to be showing up in pilots every year?

I think the king of them all could be Donal Logue. He just always seems to be on TV. Look at this list:

The Single Guy, Public Morals, Felicity, The Practice, ER, Grounded for Life and most recently The Knights of Prosperity.

Well, according to Hollywood Reporter, he's back again. "Donal Logue is returning to Fox as the star of comedy pilot "Hackett," which is being directed by Barry Sonnenfeld....which centers on a bad-boy literary luminary (Logue) who escapes his disgraced career teaching at Yale only to find himself among the ultra-PC ranks of teachers at an Ohio public high school."

FOX today announced changes to its fall lineup on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. BONES moves to Tuesdays at 8:00 PM as of Sept. 25; KITCHEN NIGHTMARES shifts to Wednesdays at 9:00 PM, starting Sept. 19; and DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS! hums along on Thursdays at 9:00 PM, beginning Sept. 6.

Season Three of BONES, the darkly amusing procedural centering on a brilliant forensic anthropologist (Emily Deschanel) who teams with a dashing FBI agent (David Boreanaz) to solve crimes, premieres Tuesday, Sept. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. New unscripted series KITCHEN NIGHTMARES, in which fiery master chef Gordon Ramsay attempts to transform failing restaurants into popular hot-spots, serves its first course Wednesday, Sept. 19 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). And DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS!, with a $1-million prize awaiting contestants who can sing 10 missing lyrics in 10 hit songs, has its time-period premiere Thursday, Sept. 6 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

Leading off the game-show tandem on Thursdays is the A+ hit ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER?, which now premieres with a special one-hour class session on Thursday, Sept. 6 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) and, as previously announced, also will air on four fall Fridays: Sept.14, Sept. 21, Sept. 28 and Oct. 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

Later in the fall, Fridays will rock with AMERICAN BAND. The producers behind mega-hit phenomenon AMERICAN IDOL take the musical reality genre to a whole new level in a search for the nation’s best undiscovered bands, starting with the two-hour series premiere Friday, Oct. 19 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. AMERICAN BAND’s regular time period will be Fridays, 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT, leading into NASHVILLE .

The freshman drama NEW AMSTERDAM , previously announced for Tuesdays at 8:00 PM in the fall, will be rescheduled in midseason.

Hilary and Nick Host 2007 Teen Choice Awards

Teen Queen Hilary Duff and actor/comedian Nick Cannon are teaming up to host TEEN CHOICE 2007 Sunday, Aug. 26 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. The ninth annual special will celebrate the hottest teen icons who made waves this year in film, television, music, sports and fashion.

At 19, Duff already has conquered the genres of television, film, fashion and music. She gained global recognition in 2001 starring in the hit series “Lizzie McGuire” and then brought her character to the big screen with “The Lizzie McGuire Movie.” Duff went on to co-star in the hit films “Agent Cody Banks,” “Cheaper By the Dozen,” “Cinderella Story,” “Raise Your Voice,” “Perfect Man” and “Material Girls.” Her upcoming films include “War, Inc.,” starring John Cusack and Sir Ben Kingsley, and the animated feature “Foodfight.” Duff also has her own fragrance, “With Love,” as well as her “Stuff by Hilary Duff” line of clothing and merchandise. Duff’s most recent album is the critically acclaimed “Dignity,” whose single “With Love” is nominated for Choice Music: Love Song. Her solo debut CD, “Metamorphosis,” her self-titled album and her “Most Wanted” CD each sold 3 million records. In all, Hilary Duff has sold over 15 million CDs worldwide. Duff is hosting TEEN CHOICE for the second time – a first in the show’s nine-year history. She has received a total of 11 TEEN CHOICE nominations over the years for her work in TV, film and music.

Cannon’s prolific career spans the film and television genres. He gained success as the co-host of “All That,” which led to his own cable series, “The Nick Cannon Show.” He went on to create and produce “Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out,” which brought hip-hop improv to the forefront; it has been nominated for two TEEN CHOICE surfboards since its 2005 premiere. Cannon’s next television series, “Short Circutz,” debuted last spring. No stranger to the big screen, Cannon starred in the feature films “Drumline”, “Bobby” and “Shall We Dance.” Cannon voiced characters in the animated films “Garfield” and “Monster House.”

Celebrities scheduled to appear at TEEN CHOICE 2007 include Jessica Alba (“Fantastic Four”), Megan Fox (“Transformers”), Emmy Rossum (“The Phantom of the Opera”), Lauren Conrad (“The Hills”), Miley Cyrus (“Hannah Montana”), Ashlee Simpson (“Autobiography”), Anna Paquin (“X-Men”), Dane Cook (“Good Luck Chuck”), Jared Padalecki (“Supernatural”) and Taylor Kitsch (“Friday Night Lights”). Other performers and presenters will be announced soon.

This year the coolest stars will receive coveted Surfboard awards in categories such as Choice Breakout TV Show, Choice Sidekick, Choice Rumble, Choice Rock Track, Choice Athlete and Choice Chemistry. From now until Sunday, Aug. 19, teens can vote on the nominees in all categories on fox.com/teenchoice and Verizon Wireless customers can text* the word VOTE to 8905 to cast their vote for Choice V CAST Video Series or Show on Mobile, Choice Summer Movie, Choice Summer TV Show, Choice Summer Song and Choice Summer Artist.
