Ryan didn’t make us wait too long to say goodbye to Lil. She was the first to stand and she didn’t have to wait for two others to join her in the B3 before her elimination. I think everyone knew she would be going, so why draw it out?
At the top of the show, we learned that Disco Night received 45 million votes — the most for the season so far. Then we were treated to a group number, “Let’s Dance,” choreographed by judge Paula Abdul. And it was fabulous, even though it looked as if lip synching is back. Adam Lambert, the theater pro, proved to be the best dancer — by far — but the others didn’t look too shabby, which is why Paula did such a great job.
Next we got a medley of disco songs from singers Freda Payne (whose voice is shot and whose body should no longer be in a slinky dress), Thelma Houston (still great) and KC of KC and the Sunshine Band (who looks like a grampa now). I could have done without this.
Back to the results. Anoop was the next to be sent to the stools, no surprise there. Then it came down to Allison and Matt, and knowing that America eliminated Matt last week, it seemed like a no-brainer. But no — it was Allison. And while I’m a big Anoop fan, I had to pray that Allison wouldn’t go home — she’s way too big of a talent.
While waiting for the final results, we got to hear my Season 7 fave David Archuleta with his new song “Touch My Hand.” He seemed flat at first, but nailed the chorus. It’s a teeny bopper song that should do well. Interestingly enough, his problem with interviews seems to have gotten better. You go boy!
Ah, we’re down to the last elimination and it is Anoop. But I didn’t think he could do better than a fifth place finish, so sixth isn’t that bad. Plus, he has the Idol tour this summer to look forward to.
What did you think of this week’s results? Did you think that Matt should have walked? Was it right for Allison to be in the B3? How well did you think Danny faked relief over being safe? Now for your Two Cents…
seems like a pretty safe bet that Danny and Adam will duke it out in the season finale
