Ok…So after this episode, we have three left in the season. And with the twists, revelations and everything else the show is throwing in, I’m back to the point where it’s overkill to write anything beside “Wow.”

Where do I start? How about with a horrified, bloodied Patty stumbling into the elevator? An absolutely perfect counterpoint to the four minutes that started all this last season. Someone running toward the building rather than away from it, someone getting into an elevator instead of out of it, and each coming from the other person’s apartment. And we still know even less about what happened at Ellen’s.

Or how about Michael’s secret girlfriend? We find out he’s hiding someone from the folks, but when he talks to the outlandish, heavily tattooed Tanya, we’re sure it’s her. And that’s amplified further when Patty declares, “If I see lip rings or tattoos, I’m walking out!” It turns out to be the more conservative, mature Jill, who we barely see in the background during the Tanya scene. And even when that initial twist plays out, we have the memorable confrontation between her and Patty.

Then there’s Agent Werner…All this time, he’s been taking calls while he’s on the job, and it’s been kind of obvious that he’s not on the level. But when Harrison intercepts the call and confronts him with the truth, the identity of the man on the other end is still in question. Werner says he doesn’t know his name, and we have never heard the name of the man dropping off the coordinates to Finn. Then Harrison makes the fatal mistake of pretending to go on the take, and we find out that it’s Powell. Pell. Right, we’re not sure about his name either.

The crowning moment of them all, though, is the shooting. This whole time, we’ve been watching Ellen, with Patty kept out of the scene. Now we see that Werner has been watching the exact same thing (OK, less stylized, but the same events). So the Damages crew and Ellen have staged this scene for someone’s benefit.

Through all this, Ellen looks to be getting closer and closer to the breaking point. Unable to confide in anyone, she almost seduces a stranger in the bar, until Katie comes to her rescue. She almost confides in her, but can’t bring herself to tell the truth. It’s Wes she finally opens up to, and he brings the info back to Messer. No effect here…The hit is still on, and it looks like Wes, who has been watching Ellen since her first meeting with Harrison and Werner, moved in to protect Ellen from Messer. But did Messer show up before or after Patty left?

And then there’s Claire, who meets with Patty to negotiate a settlement for UNR, which Kendall has reluctantly ordered. Instead of settling, however, she counts on Patty being driven by her desire for revenge on Purcell. Claire meets with Purcell next, and finds out that he has been watching for suspicious power outages. He puts two and two together to conclude that Finn has been manipulating the energy market by capitalizing on these outages. Purcell also confesses to lying about Aracite, and sends Claire to Kendrick. He denies the Aracite cover-up and tells Claire to keep her mouth shut.

Whew! Try reading all that in one breath! Anyway, there you have my two cents…I’d love to hear where your thoughts. Drop in your comments or send me a note at: tom@thetwocentscorp.com .
