General Juma’s scuba crew of terrorists have broken through to a sewer that leads to the White House Basement. Do you really need a better teaser that that?

Olivia wants to go see her father at the hospital but Aaron won’t let her. Ethan comes in and lets her know that there is another attack happening and the President wants her to stay in the White House where it’s safe. (Insert terrorist joke here).

Larry calls in and tells President Taylor that he believes that Juma is in Washington.

Renee is still running from Youssou, but now on foot. She’s the only one that knows what the attack target is and she wants to try to get this information to Larry. She runs into a ranger and tells him to call in the attack, but he gets shot instantly. Back at the White House, Bill tells Jack that the Attorney General wants him in his custody. Jack is more concerned about the attack itself. Jack wants Bill to “coerce” Burnett to talk, but Bill tells him that it’s not in him to torture. At that same time, Juma and his men break into the White House and start taking out secret service agents.

    7:16

As Juma is killing his way to the Oval Office, Renee is still on the run. Larry and his team are getting close however, as they find the dead ranger. Youssou finally catches up to Renee and she tells him that Juma had his father killed. He doesn’t believe her and looks to shoot her, but she disarms him with a nearby shovel. They fight and he starts to strangle her, but Larry shows up and shoots him just in time. She tells him that the White House is the target and Larry immediately calls Bill. Bill calls a code red and everyone is lining up to protect President Taylor. He asks Jack to help, and Jack promises he’ll follow his lead. They figure out that she is being tracked, so Bill puts her tracker on himself to be a decoy for her. Juma and his men catch up with the tracker (and Bill) and capture him. Rather than killing him, he keeps him as a hostage.

The secret service and Jack get the President to the lockdown room. She doesn’t want to be locked down without Olivia, who is with Aaron. Jack tells her that her life is the priority right now, not Olivia. The other agents get killed and Jack locks himself in with President Taylor in the room. Juma lies to the secret service and tells them that he has the President. He tells them to pull back immediately or she will be killed. To not risk her life they pull back their forces, leaving Jack and the President alone in the lockdown room. One of Juma’s men put in a digital key to the lockdown door. He tells him that If Hodges’ code works, the door should be opened in 15 minutes, We remember Hodges is the guy who was selling arms to Juma in Sangala in the Redemption movie.

    7:31

Larry and Renee arrive at the White House. Renee finds out that Jack is in there and asks about him. But Larry wants Renee to make sure that the President is her priority, and not Jack. In the lockdown room, Jack discovers that they have the lockdown codes. He takes a lamp cord and uses it to short out the box, rending it dead. Juma calls Hodges to tell them about the new problem. Hodges feels that he’s done enough already. Juma threatens to destroy his shipment (ie: payment for services rendered) if he doesn’t help him with this. Hodges goes over the White House manifest, and tells him that the President’s daughter is in the building. Juma tells him that his shipment will arrive safely, and calls out a search for Olivia. Aaron finds that the only exits from the wing they’re in are blocked, so they have to get to a window to get a signal out. Olivia insists to come with him.

    7:45

Larry tells the Vice President they’d like to move in, because he believes that the President has not been captured and may be in the lockdown room. But the VP doesn’t want to risk her life in the case that Juma is telling the truth. Elsewhere, Aaron gets shot by one of Juma’s men. He gives Olivia the Morse code signal to initiate a moving in of the troops. But as she goes to do the signal, she is captured along with Aaron.

    7:55

Juma sits Olivia in front of the camera. He tells President Taylor that if she doesn’t come out, he will cut out her eyes, her tongue then her throat. The President then orders Jack to open the door. He refuses; reminding her that she’s the President first. She insists that he opens the door. Before Juma can cut out Olivia’s eye, the doors from the lockdown room slide open with Jack leading the way out. President Taylor tells Juma that since he now has her, he should let the other hostages go, Than Juma smacks her in the face (No he didn’t!) and tells her that he is giving the orders now. Juma tells his men to get the camera ready for the statement. When she asks him what statement he’s referring to, he tells her that it’s the last one she’ll ever make.

Well, this was one of the most suspenseful episodes to date. And I mean in the entire run of the show. There were so many things happening with so many things on the line, it had me breathless throughout. As a cliffhanger it’s tough to beat. We are halfway through the season now, and I am very pleased. I have no idea how Jack is going to save the President but I have a feeling that he’ll find a way to do it. I can’t wait until next week. What about you? Are you like me and actually be looking forward to a Monday?

  2. Thankfully, this was finally a GOOD episode. I actually hope President Taylor dies... she's weak sauce. And I hope that senator gets blown up, too.
