Tony and Ziva are waiting for McGee to arrive before they can go to the crime scene. When McGee finally arrives he tells them that he is late because there was an accident. They leave the NCIS building upon arrival at the crime scene Tony surprises McGee by telling Gibbs that they where in a traffic jam instead of just blaming McGee for being late. When McGee asks him why he covered for him he denies that he did.

After a while of investigating the scene an officer steps up to Gibbs and tells him that a really strange woman claims that she works for NCIS. He is joking about her dog collar and her weird clothes. Gibbs tells him that she is part of his team and to let her in. The officer thinks that he is joking at first. But when he notices that Gibbs obviously isn’t goes back to Abby and allows her to join Gibbs. She tells Gibbs that NCIS agent Jack Patterson was on his way to Abby.

Agent Patterson was an agent afloat and when he had some evidence he would send it to Abby. Abby would work on the evidence and send the results back to him. They only had contact through phone and email. Agent Patterson wanted to meet Abby he had something he wanted to show her, he asked her to meet him last night. But Abby put him off and asked him to come by in the morning. She has no idea what Agent Patterson wanted to show her.

The same goes for a Special Agent Bartholomew Lemming who’s card was clutched in Agent Pattersons hand when he died. They both have no idea what Patterson was working on or what he wanted to show them.

Gibbs, McGee and Tony the ship to which Patterson was assigned to see if they can find out what he was working on. They find a folder with pictures from a certain storage room and soon they find out that Patterson was keeping an eye on one I particular Seaman Zell who also had the access code to this particular storage room. They find a bag with coke hidden in the storage room. McGee and Tony wait for the seaman while they are ‘pretend painting’.

At the same time Abby and Ziva are in the lab when the postman brings a package which was kind of send to Abby. Better said there was Abby’s name and NCIS written on the back of a receipt. When she opens it she finds a painting by Dina Risi, a strange painting which doesn’t make any sense to Abby.

Abby finds out that the package was send from the artist directly to Patterson, when they try to find out where Dina Risi is they find out that she has been missing for quite some time. McGee finds out where Dina Risi might be when he sees some of her paintings. He can track all of the painted landscapes to one area in the middle of nowhere down in Arizona. McGee finds out that there is one small cabin where Dina Risi might be.

Gibbs and Tony leave for Arizona as soon as they can and meet up with Sherrif Boyd, the person to whom Tony had spoken about Dina Risi. The only way to reach the cabin is by horse. Boyd and Gibbs have no problem with the horses, but Tony is a whole other story. For him the trip to the cabin becomes very painful.

Meanwhile Abby finds out that what Patterson tried to give to her was not so much about the painting but about the paint. The paint used for the painting has radio active material in it. Agent Patterson must have found out about it and asked Dina Risi to send him the painting so that he could help her while she was staying at the cabin. He died trying to find help for her.

Besides that Ziva and McGee get to meet the real Bartholomew Lemming who was on vacation, turns out that the ‘agent’ portraying him did so to find out how much NCIS really knew about agent Patterson. Therefor they suspect him to be the hired killer who killed Patterson.

Gibbs and Tony along with Boyd meet the woman behind the gun and find out that Dina Risi is indeed hiding out till Agent Patterson found help. Gibbs tells her that Patterson is dead and that she isn’t safe either. He urges her to leave with them, but soon a helicopter is following them and the man who said that he was Bartholomew Lemming starts shooting at them hoping to kill them. But Gibbs shows his skills with a riffle and shoots the helicopter pilot. The helicopter crashes into the mountains and explodes.

It turns out that the hired killer was a man named Jerome Sacks, a man who lived as a suburban life of a father, little league coach and who’s wife thought that he had to travel out of town for work. He is responsible for four unsolved murders, there might be more.

Another good episode, it wasn’t one of the best and it wasn’t that surprising. But it was well written, well acted and entertaining in my opinion. I liked it and I am already looking forward to the next episode. What did you think of this episode?

  2. In this episode they said they were going to Arizona. In Reality they were at the vasquez mountain park in Los Angeles. I know that area because in April 2007 I went through those mountains on horseback...
