Three Good Things About This Week’s Episode:

    1. The storyline was extremely well done. Taking on an episode about a transgendered teen isn’t exactly an easy task but the topic was handled very well. The episode ran the gamut of opinions on transgendered teens, from Haley’s disapproving father, to Stabler being insensitive at first and not understanding, to Haley’s mother, who supports her daughter. Then there’s Dr. Huang, who really knocked some sense into the episode by explaining the issues involved with being transgendered in today’s society to the detectives.

    2. Then there’s Bridger Zadina, who doesn’t just knock it out of the park, he knocks it out of this galaxy. There have been some real stellar kids on SVU this season but he should be nominated for an Emmy for this role. Honestly, he did such an amazing job, I couldn’t believe he was a boy when I looked up who played the role of Haley. I also have to mention Aisha Hinds, who played Haley’s understanding guidance counselor, Miss Blaine. There’s a twist, where Miss Blaine is on the stand and she uses the word “we” during her testimony. Grayleck jumps on it and Aisha Hinds gives this intense monologue, describing her past as a transgendered person and a time when she was attacked. It’s so intense, the moment honestly gave me chills.

    3. Elliot and Haley’s conversation in her bedroom. Elliot, who makes a few missteps along the way in the episode, including being rather harsh to Haley’s transgendered boyfriend, Blake, completely turns it around in this moment. Haley asks Elliot if he would still love his son if he came home in a dress. Elliot admits he would probably make a lot of mistakes but would never stop loving him and would try to understand. I’m glad the episode included a moment like this. It took it to another level, slowing down the pace of the episode but in a good way and letting the reality of the situation hit home.

So, what did you think? I think it definitely was one of the strongest episodes this season. Let me know your TwoCents in the comments!
