  1. Things are all the same-old, same-old at Sacred Heart: Dr. Kelso is retired and continually cashing in on those free muffins for life, JD and Elliot are dating, and Dr. Cox is being an ass to the interns. Oh... and all of JDs daydreams this episode are Sesame Street related. Yeah.

Elliot, Dr. Cox, and JD decide on which interns to select as their new Protégé/Lackey. Elliot picks Katie (the brown-noser who will shiv anyone who gets in her way), Dr. Cox picks Ed (the king of coining phrases and slacking), and JD picks Denise (whom he calls Jo, who has no bedside manner or tact whatsoever)

Elliot teaches Katie to stand up for herself. When Katie, claiming she doesn’t have the best self-confidence right now, doesn’t get a research position under Turk, Elliot goes to bat for her, getting her the research position. Then, Turk points out that Katie was playing Elliot a little so she could get ahead. Rude! “I’ve got Dr. Reid wrapped around my finger. The Sesame Street Lesson learned: “Always play nice.”

Dr. Cox teaches Ed that he hates him. But Dr. Cox can’t figure out why he hates Ed so much. After watching him sluff his way through the day (listening to The DaVinci Code during rounds, for example), he figures it out: Ed is lazy, and Dr. Cox can’t abide that. The Sesame Street Lesson learned: “Always try your hardest.”

JD teaches Denise/Jo how to deal with the family of a dying man. When JD and Denise/Jo have to tell a wife that her husband only has a few hours left to live, he lets Denise/Jo attempt to secure the DNR paperwork. What a trainwreck! Even with help from Elmo (wait, that was just a daydream), Denise/Jo is a tad bit cold and precise; shattering any hope the family had left. JD had failed to make her a more compassionate doctor. The Sesame Street Lesson learned: “It’s OK to cry.”

To quote the last line of the episode: “It’s gonna be a long year.”

What do YOU think? Does the appearance of Sesame Street characters constitute Shark Jumping? How awesome was that muppet x-ray? Will these interns EVER get it? Give us your Two Cents… We’ll go buy some muffins.
