  1. This episode was a bit different than the usual, but we get a brief sense of how one handyman affected each of the women. Handyman, Eli Scruggs dies on Susan's roof after telling her he will be retiring after the job is done. As the women gather to mourn each one thinks back several years.

Gabby: When Gabby was new to the neighborhood and not liking the suburbs and missing the city and modeling, Eli told her about some of the nice women who get together to play cards once a week. He offers to put in a word for her. They come over to play cards and Gabby is a snooty b**ch and is then not invited over again. Eli is angry that she did that, and she gets a reality check that has her reintroduce herself to the ladies and then they welcome her with open arms.

Edie: Edie has her husband leave her, and then claims he is gay. She asks Eli, while standing in bra and panties, if she has a nice tush. He says yes and that any man would be crazy not to find her sexy (not quite in those words, but I'm winging it). The next time she sees him she seduces him. I guess it was her way of thanking him. I guess this is where she gets her rep as a skank!

Lynette: She finds out she is pregnant with her daughter, just as she was planning on going back to work. So she figures she will after the birth. When coming home on a warm day, she is on the phone for a job, and she leaves the baby in the car. Eli hears and sees the baby and brings her in the house. As Lynette is on the phone she sees him holding the baby and realizes how dangerous it was to leave her in the hot car. She hugs him and as we know, ends up being a stay-at-home-mom.

Mrs Young: (you know, the lady who died in the show, who narrates it) Well she is the first one who met and hired him after he approached her and gave her his card. She saw he had holes in his shoes, so she had him fix a vase. Later he came to fix something and it was the day she got the note and died.

Bree: Eli liked a certain dish Bree gave him and he was the one who encouraged her to write a cookbook.

Susan: He saw her go through so many relationships and saw how she always brushed herself off and continued to find love. He called her his hero.

Like I said...different. And to think that I thought Mike was the only handyman around.
