Well let’s see... We have Agent Renee Walker buried alive after Jack’s mock killing. We have the First Gentleman Henry Taylor frozen stiff by a neuro-drug and about to be killed by his traitorous Secret Service man. Oh, and we have an imminent attack by a terrorist who can control telecommunications with his brand new CIP device. This is 24 all right!

While Larry has his entire department at the FBI scrambling to find Renee, we whisk over to the site where she is buried. And there is Buchanan and Chloe who Jack must have notified to save her. They dig her out, and fortunately they are able to revive her. Elsewhere Jack and Tony are arriving at their destination with Emerson and Motabo. Emerson surprises them by pulling a gun on Jack! Tony warns Emerson to put his gun down but he doesn’t listen. Tony shoots him first in the arm, then in the neck. Jack and Tony talk to Motabo to share who they are and their plan to capture Dubaku. And at that moment, Dubaku orders an attack on Washington DC.

Ethan is still pleading with President Taylor to pull troops from Sangala but she stands by her decision. Jack talks Motabo into going along with their plan to get to Dubaku. Emerson tells Tony before dying that he is not forgiven for his betrayal, and Tony doesn’t take it well. Dubaku calls the President and tells her to look out her south-facing window, and there she sees two planes collide in Dubaku’s first act of terror against the US.

President Taylor has her cabinet together and now many more are suggesting that she give in, but she refuses. Secretary Stevens is flabbergasted that she won’t give in and resigns his post. She tells the staff that what they decide here with not only define their administration, but this generations of Americans.

Jack faces Renee for the first time since she thought he was betraying her. She feels that Jack should have trusted her, but Jack tells her that she probably would not have believed him. Chloe puts a transmitter in Motabo’s teeth to track him after the exchange. Meanwhile Henry is sitting helplessly while Samantha is on her way to her demise. Agent Gedge stabs her violently and kills her. Ethan calls looking for Henry and Gedge tells Ethan that he is at Samantha’s apartment against his will. Then he places the murder weapon into Henry’s hand preparing to frame him for Samantha’s murder.

    1:52

Nichols pulls in to do the exchange for Motabo. Tony tells him that he’s killed Emerson and Bauer because he wants the diamonds for himself. Nichols tries to double-cross him like Dubaku told him to, but Jack shoots one of Nichols’ men to let them know that Tony is not alone. Tony tells him to move on because they have what they want in Motabo and his wife. He moves on while Chloe tracks them with the hope that they’ll lead them to Dubaku. Elsewhere, Henry is starting get some feeling back in his hands. Gedge is trying to hang him, but Henry is able to put his hands around his neck to strangle him. The two men fall over the railing onto the floor. Gedge is killed and Henry is just lying there with the realization of the situation. Then we move over to Dubaku, who is surprised that President Taylor still hasn’t pulled the troops from Sangala. He now looks at a city in Ohio as his next target.

With all of the hubbub going on, I really was worrying about Henry for the entire episode. Colm Feore is one of those actors that you don’t think of all of the time, yet is great in everything that he does. I’m happy to see him make it out of that bind in one piece. I also like to see President Taylor stick by her guns even though she has many opponents. She may be another President Palmer type and that would be nice, considering the last two Presidents were secretly baddies. What do you think of Allison Taylor so far? Who is your favorite President in this show? Or any show for that matter?
