Last week, Christine and Barb lost their gym. This week, they try to turn it into a day spa. That backfires, so they try to get investors. That backfires, too. Well, at least it helps the rest of us feel good about ourselves.
ReplyDeleteChristine and Barb are talking to a banker about their situation. Along with letting them know that their marriage will not keep Barb in the country, he won’t give them a loan. Christine and Barb try to encourage each other with limited success, but eventually they realize they could start any business in their empty once-gym. Barb suggests arson, but Christine thinks a spa would be better.
At Ritchie’s school, the Meanie Moms are having a conversation by text message when Richard arrives to fill Christine’s place volunteering. Its only women doing the work, and when Richard tries to join in, they send him to the side of the room and ignore him. He tells Christine about this as he helps her set up the spa, but she’s won’t let him escape. Barb comes in and notes that things look nice. This is partly because Christine bought massage tables with an “investment” from her grandmother. Richard returns to volunteering the next day, but this time, in offering his opinion on one of the women’s relationships, he gets in on their good side. The spa is coming along well, too. So well, in fact, that we can expect something bad to happen in about two seconds. Sure enough, Matthew comes out from one of the massage booths to tell them they’re running a whorehouse.
Through use of creative metaphors, Matthew says that his masseuse did something inappropriate, so Christine questions the girls, only to discover that one of them is actually a man. Barb and Christine realize they’ll have to re-open the gym, and Christine grudgingly goes to Marly and Lindsey for help. They’re completely oblivious, and she’s not all that persuasive, so she might as well not have bothered. Meanwhile, one of the women Richard gave advice too comes to tell him it was horrible, and so he’s on his own again. As is the gym. Christine laments to Matthew that she’s going to have to get a job. But Barb saves the day- she’s sold her condo to get them the money they need. What’s more, she wants to stay married to Christine even though it won’t do a thing to keep her in the country. This is sweet, but it doesn’t do much to make the fact they must sleep together in the twin beds that magically appeared in Christine’s room any less awkward.
I highly doubt the show will get rid of Wanda Sykes, but what do you think will happen to Barb? And what will come of her and Christine living together? Unfortunately, we won’t find out until January, so until then, happy holidays!
What Old Christine Taught Me This Week:
1. The “sexy move” is always funny
2. Barb might be a pyromaniac
3. Screening employees is best done before you hire them
4. The Meanie Moms might soon open a clothing store for jobs.
5. From the job market, you might just think the economy was in trouble.
The actor who played the masseuse who is dressed up as a woman was hysterical. Do you know the actor's name?
