Peyton throws a USO show featuring Haley, Mia and Angels and Airwaves, making good on her promise to Derek. Haley gets a bad case of pre-show jitters and Sam spends the night working backstage, without incident. For some reason, Julian hangs about and adds a minor dose of drama to the night. This week, we get a guest performance by Angels and Airwaves, which is great if you like Angels and Airwaves. If you don’t like them, the music feels overbearing and takes over the entire last third of the show. We get to see everyone’s favorite Haley James Scott perform. The problem with this is that she performs a song with a lot of in studio vocal layering, which doesn’t translate believably when, thanks to the way filming works, Bethany has to lip-sync to the song. It ends up looking like she can sing with two different voices at once, as well as studio electronic tweaking. Yes, I did see the background singer on the stage but no, it still didn’t help me believe the scene.
Lucas is a bit prickly that Julian and Peyton were once in love, which is ridiculous considering he nearly married Lindsay, a fact Brooke points out. That’s Lucas for you though. He doesn’t always make sense but he sure is stubborn. He decides he doesn’t want to do the movie anymore and Julian tells him tough luck as Lucas already signed over the rights. Peyton encourages Lucas to take part in the movie because the movie needs him to be done right.
Sam takes a big step towards being a full fledged character this week by not rebelling. She makes breakfast for Brooke, helps out with the USO show and even expresses her worries about Brooke adopting a baby in a rational manner. I adore Sam, I do. Brooke’s phone call about possibly getting a baby takes a turn when the agency tells her that fostering a teenager complicates things. So, Sam will probably run away to make things easier for Brooke and Brooke will track her down and tell her never to do that again.
One line about Jamie having an imaginary friend somehow transforms into a Nathan plot line where he’s either being haunted by Quentin or having a complete psychotic break. It seems like option B and it totally cheapens Quentin’s death. There’s a reason they never brought back Tara on Buffy but of course, One Tree Hill doesn’t play by the same rules. Ugh, I hate it. Bringing back Keith the few times they did always seemed to make sense and even be beautiful. Q’s return was abrasive and downright weird. He criticizes Nathan’s choice to quit Slamball harshly, which doesn’t seem to make sense. Nathan doesn’t want to end up back in a wheelchair and Slamball is not basketball. In the end, Q encourages Nathan not to be afraid to chase after what he really wants.
Mouth is a moron and I hate Gigi so much. Besides the fact that she’s completely annoying, she can’t ever seem to take that smile off her face. What she’s doing is completely wrong personally and completely unprofessional. She should have been fired a hundred times over for the things she says. I hope Millie just decks her. I can’t believe Mouth brought her home. Millie’s right. He’s respecting the wrong girl. This isn’t going to end well.
So what did you think? How badly do you think Mouth’s relationship will be screwed up before the month is out? Tell me your TwoCents in the comments!
I think Nathan should have kept playing Slamball until he was actually recognized.
ReplyDeleteTrue, that would have made the storyline more complete but maybe someone will pop up and make an offer to him based on seeing him play Slamball. I'm crossing my fingers.
