Goodbye Wisit!

I’ve always been divided over Wisit. Yes, he’s sweet and funny, which makes him quite entertaining. But he also does that “I’m so cute!” face every other minute and I could go the rest of my life without hearing him sing opera again (soprano, of course).

    Goodbye Wisit!

I’ve always been divided over Wisit. Yes, he’s sweet and funny, which makes him quite entertaining. But he also does that “I’m so cute!” face every other minute and I could go the rest of my life without hearing him sing opera again (soprano, of course).

I’m also divided over his design abilities — he certainly has a good eye and can create magic with anything fabric. But he rarely listens to clients, doing everything his own way (remember how he sabotaged Kerry on that window design challenge, never owning up to his failure and letting Kerry take the fall?).

This time – he didn’t listen to the client’s instruction to go green. And so, he had to go. And I’m divided once again— sad and glad, like one of those comedy-drama masks.

I was glad that it was an individual task because too many of the challenges seem to be based on if you’re a good team member. But what about the twist where everyone shopped for their office, then had to switch rooms with another designer? Very cruel for the designers who inherited materials that were a bad choice. Some were able to make lemonade, but some weren’t.

    Here’s a player-by-player wrap up.

Eddie showed his real bitchy colors, calling their apartment a “disgusting dump” and his first client a “nerd.” Then he wouldn’t own up that the best features of his final room were really Nathan’s choices. He really didn’t deserve to win this episode’s top design award, Nathan did.

Ondine inherited Wisit’s inappropriate feminine materials for a man’s office. But she wowed the judges with her recycled water bottle chandelier and saved the day.

Preston’s meeting room was sleek and polished, although I hated the almost monochromatic color scheme. He definitely shone brighter here than he has in the past.

Andrea (my favorite) inherited Eddie’s material, which normally would be an asset, except Eddie almost seemed to be setting himself up for failure. His contempt for his client resulted to dismal material choices. But Andrea was able to pull it together, thanks to a strong floorplan design.

Nathan is definitely shaping up to be the clear frontrunner this season. Don’t forget he won two out of the three challenges in last week’s eppy. Once again, he pulled in unexpected materials (i.e. sawhorses for desk legs) and made them work. He’s a true pro.

How many times are we going to hear how young Natalie is? Her immaturity isn’t in her physical age, but mentally. She has some fun ideas, but her execution is terrible! She was lucky that Wisit had such a bad week or it would have been her strolling out of the studio one last time. Bet she goes next week.

Did you notice that, as he left, Wisit had to sing one more soaring aria? And when he was done, I realized that, yes, I really was glad that he was gone. I’m divided no more.
