Luck turns to Shane for a change as the clock keeps ticking, and one threat to Mackey may be extinguished.

Aceveda is ready to turn over Cruz Pezcuela’s blackmail box. Vic bargains with him, saying that he can pick up Armando Rios and get him to turn on Pezcuela. Aceveda agrees to a 36 hour window. At Lem’s grave, Vic tells Ronnie he has a plan to solve all three problems, but Ronnie worries that the short time frame will rush them, leading to mistakes. Vic plans to tell Rezian that Peacuela’s people have a figure in mind for the box. Rezian will be waiting for them, Rios will ambush them, and Shane will get caught in the crossfire.

Vic plans to tell Rezian that Peacuela’s people have a figure in mind for the box. Rezian will be waiting for them, Rios will ambush them, and Shane will get caught in the crossfire. Then they pick up Rios as he faces a murder charge.

Tina finds a naked man wandering by a dumpster. He has blood on him, so she brings him in for questioning. He claims that he is a sleepwalker, and he is worried he may have hurt someone. Dutch and Claudette look into his past and find a 911 call from his ex-wife, where he had attacked her while he was asleep. After wearing him down and getting him to open up about his condition, Dutch discovers a victim, and the man asks for a lawyer. Tina comes back to them with a different victim of a lesser crime, and her testimony clears the naked man. Dutch and Claudette go to let him know, but when they get to the room, he has committed suicide.

Shane gets a visit from a former partner with some personal history with his wife. He tells Shane about a fugitive they both were after. The man has made contact with his daughter, and they think they can use her for bait to draw him out. This splits Shane’s focus from Vic’s plan, but he agrees to be Rezian’s guard while the Armenians wait for the Mexicans unarmed. Vic later sends him to calm down Rezian. Before he leaves, Shane offers to transfer to get out of Vic and Ronnie’s hair. When the two men bring in the fugitive, Ronnie takes Shane’s gun and empties the clip.

Olivia is planning to turn herself in for her role in Pezcuela’s schemes, but Vic talks her out of it, urging her to catch him red-handed. Since Rios has looked eager to flee the country, he asks her to find out why. Vic meets Rios himself, since the sketches have been circulating of the gunmen who hit City Comptroller Martin. Vic wants to make sure those men are not at the meet. Olivia returns to Vic, telling him that Rios has just been put on a surveillance list, and she worries that he’ll turn her over if he’s caught. Since Vic had met with Rios and shown up on the surveillance tapes, Vic goes to Pezcuela to keep Rios away from the meet.

Vic begins to get cold feet about the double-cross, talking about choices. When Ronnie asks him, “Did Shane give Lem a choice?”, Vic replies, “I’m not Shane.” Vic tries to call Shane and warn him, but Shane has already surrendered his phone to Rezian. He leaves the junkyard office to go on patrol just as the Mexicans storm in. Hiding amidst the junk, he tries to take a shot, but finds the gun empty. Vic and Ronnie arrive after hearing the call on their radio, and they find Rezian and his men dead, with the money missing. After a moment, Shane appears, unharmed. Arriving home, he lets his wife know about the money he has taken (as a “consolation prize”), and tells her that Vic and Ronnie tried to kill him. “The worst thing,” he tells her, “is they think I’m too stupid to realize it.”
