Peyton and Lucas continue to live in their own world, actually not leaving their house at all this week. Brooke and Sam continue to clash and Jamie gets picked on for wearing his cape at school. Mouth’s absence is over for good and Owen returns. As always, Brooke, you could do a lot better.
Peyton and Lucas put themselves under house arrest to ensure that Peyton unpacks and Lucas shares his space. B. Davis magazine warned Peyton that moving in is when you find out you don’t know each other as well as you thought. The magazine proved right as Lucas admits he doesn’t like The Cure. A dumbstruck Peyton reminds him of the lyrics from Lovesong she painted on the river court. Oh, dear, Lucas. It’s pretty much completely inadvisable to get between Peyton and her music. He finally admits that Friday, I’m In Love “isn’t too bad.” That’s an understatement, Lucas Scott. The magazine article advises that each person should have their own space so Lucas tapes a line down the center of the house. Peyton gets the bedroom, bathroom, Lucas’s cell phone and the TV remote, while Lucas has control over the kitchen, TV and the circuit breaker. A truce is finally called and all is once again well in the Sawyer/Scott household. I know you were worried.
Things remain a bit rocky with Brooke and Sam. Sam steals, stays out all night and uses Brooke’s ID to attempt to drink at Tric. During Haley’s haiku lesson, Brooke charges into the classroom and over to Sam. She says nothing and just holds out her hand for her sunglasses and wallet. That part was great but the best part was right after when Haley simply says, “My friend, Brooke Davis. Blowing through my class like wind. Sam, in trouble, no?” It’s quite the haiku, Mrs. James-Scott.
Haley’s got problems of her own. Jamie gets in a fight with another kid who called his cape and Quentin stupid. Jamie was beyond justified, if you ask me. Haley tries to nicely confront the kid’s mother but it turns out the mom is just as horrible as the kid and Haley shoves her. Again, justified. Nathan hears about this altercation and says to Haley, “My girl’s a badass.” On an awesome streak, Nathan asks Brooke for a favor and he shows up at Jamie’s school wearing a cape. He says he couldn’t slam dunk without it and offers a cape to anyone who wants one. The kids pounce on them. Nate shoots and scores, yet again. Also, Nathan playing basketball is hot. Nathan playing Slamball is ridiculously hot.
During the previously mentioned misadventure with Brooke’s ID, Owen brings Sam home. Brooke gives him a tongue lashing of the verbal sort for bailing on her and he gives the usual speech about being afraid based on his childhood. He asks for a second chance and a softened Brooke says she’ll think about it.
Other notable moments include Mouth not only getting his old job back but getting an office, an immediate commentator position and an intern, which just happens to be his ex-girlfriend. Don’t be stupid, Mouth. Millicent is by far the best thing anyone could ever have. Sam confides in Brooke that the reason she keeps going to the diner is that her mom is a waitress there and she’s trying to get the nerve to tell her what she gave away. Dan threatens the bully mom, mentioning he’s on his way to a parole hearing and he murdered someone. Oh, grandpa Dan. You never do change, do you? Haley starts to love music again, thanks to a local musician playing in the park, just for fun. Yeah, it’s advertising another One Tree Hill CD but it still sounded fantastic.
So what did you think? Tell me your TwoCents! I liked this episode quite a bit. It was a return to a musical Haley James and a badass Brooke Davis. You know what, I like Sam, too. I’m eager to see her and Jamie team up. I’ll probably be wrong but I don’t think they’ll make that toxic of a duo. Jamie seems to make everyone around him better. It looks like next week, we also get a front row seat for Nathan’s first Slamball game. I still think it’s a bad idea. A million times be careful, Nathan Scott.
