This week, Christine is upset when Ritchie stops saying he loves her. So she does the only logical thing. She asks Richard to have another baby with her. Okay, so Christine’s idea of logic is a bit different than the rest of the world’s.
Christine drops Ritchie off at school, and after telling him she loves him, tries none too subtly to get him to say it back. Seeing her fail, the Meanie Moms come over to sympathize. They say they’re having babies to hear more “I love you”s themselves, which plants a seed in Christine’s head. When Richard and New Christine (she exists!) come to the house, she tries to get Richard to impregnate her. The idea goes over gangbusters with New Christine.
Christine tells Matthew about Ritchie, and he says she’s got to let him go, something their mom never did with him. Christine, who was largely ignored by their mother, now sleeps in her son’s bed. Matthew, on their other hand, can’t sleep without talking to her on the phone. They both decide to quit their “addictions”. Meanwhile, New Christine is still angry over Richard not immediately turning down Christine’s request, and Richard doesn’t make the situation much better. Christine and Matthew try to ready themselves up to face the night, but Christine is soon sneaking off to Ritchie’s room. Matthew finds her and pulls her back out.
He gets her to the couch, but she makes another break for it, resulting in a stand-off with Matthew using speed dial in place of a gun. Then, he suggests they replace their needs with new habits. Cleaning, for instance. Over at their home, New Christine wonders whether Richard would have a baby with Christine in a variety of situations. If the world were ever to end, they’d be happy to have had this conversation. Anyway, Christine and Matthew did actually become desperate enough clean house. All is well until their mother calls. Christine smothers Matthew with a pillow while she fields the awkward call. New Christine and Richard finally reach peace, except that she says she’d “repopulate the Earth” with Matthew because he has nice hair. Poor Richard. As all politically correct limits are thrown to the wind, Christine snaps, Matthew wants to wash their mother’s back, and they both end up falling asleep in the same bed. In the end, all is forgiven between Richard and New Christine, nothing changes for Matthew, and Ritchie still won’t say “I love you”. But at least he’ll say “Say safe”
So, has the relationship between Christine and Matthew scarred you for life yet? And who would you want to be “the last two people on Earth” with? Discuss the episode in comments!
What Old Christine Taught Me This Week:
1. Ritchie does not get hints very well
2. Christine and Matthew are totally Monica and Ross from Friends, only more disturbing
3. When your ex-wife asks you to knock her up, the answer is “No.”
4. But when your current girlfriend asks you to who you’d kill in a room with limited oxygen, “Myself” is the smart way to go.
5. Christine and Matthew’s mother should probably be arrested for how her kids turned out
