Tonight’s episode started out with a bang, almost literally. Joy being carjacked could easily end in the carjacker shooting Joy, but that wasn’t going to stop her from getting the chicken nuggets she had in the car when it was stolen. Once again, I must say I admire Joy’s persistence, because I’d seriously consider doing the same thing.

Earl and Randy see Joy being dragged by the car, and Randy says it’s the best stunt he’s seen since Sweet Johnny. Earl remembers Sweet Johnny as being the sweetest guy ever, as well as being a sweet stuntman. It turns out that Earl, years before, repeatedly talked Johnny into doing insanely dangerous stunts like the Doomsday Chair and the Human Speed Bump so he can spend more time with Johnny’s girlfriend Sheila, who urges Earl to “grab a slice of that butt cake.” She’s a keeper. Anyway, while Earl hatches a plan to make this up to Johnny, Randy is trying to prove he’s not a virgin by pulling a label off of a beer bottle in one piece, which he theoretically will be able to do if sex with “daytime hookers, illegal aliens, and 60-year-olds” counts. Earl finds Johnny, played by a surprisingly humorous David Arquette, and tells him he slept with Sheila. Enraged, Johnny shoots Earl with a staple gun. Earl decides to come back the next day, and when he does, he discovers that Johnny can’t remember anything that happened since a day ten years ago when he hit his head. Sheila (now with some serious junk in the trunk), tells Earl that Johnny has been reliving the same day for ten years, and she had to leave him because if he sang Livin’ La Vida Loca one more time, she was going to drain him in the bathtub.

Meanwhile, Joy has bought a gun from “some Indian dude” for protection after the carjacking. Darnell tells her that under no circumstances should she have a gun, and Joy tells him she has a first amendment right to have one, because nothing speaks louder than a gun. I have to admit she has a point there. Darnell takes Joy’s gun and trades it for a ham, and Joy is enraged, and asks “how am I supposed to protect my family with a honey baked ham?”

A day later Earl tries again to make Johnny happy. He comes prepared with a mask to shield him from the staple gun, but Johnny switches weapons. Eventually, Johnny gets tired of assaulting Earl, and Earl calms him down by singing his favorite song. Johnny asks him to help him complete the base jump, but as soon as Earl agrees to do it, Johnny falls asleep. Earl comes prepared the next day and repeats the whole thing, finally getting Johnny to do the jump. Johnny floats into the air after telling Earl he’s going to kill himself, because “if this is my life and that’s Sheila’s ass, I don’t want to go on.” Earl grabs the chair, and the two float into the sky. Joy, watching from below, uses the situation to prove to Darnell that there are some times when you need a gun. Luckily for Earl, this is America and Joy has found another gun. Joy shoots the balloons down that are holding the chair, and Earl and Johnny are saved.

I liked this episode, mostly because Joy got to exercise her “first amendment rights.” David Arquette did a better job than I thought he would, and fat Sheila was really funny. What did you all think? Leave your Two Cents in the comments below!
