I know that Grey’s Anatomy is getting good again when I’m not only connecting with the audience, but I’m reconnecting with the stories lines. The thing that was so good about pre-season 4 (and late season 3) Grey’s was that the patients reflected what was going on with the doctors. Finally, those things are getting back on track.

I must say, the Chief is sexy. Seriously, don’t hate. When he’s giving powerful speeches, tellin’ everyone how things are going to be changing around the hospital, and he’s taking control and assigning people to surgeries, he’s hot. It is true, that there is nothing better than an in-charge, demanding, and distinguished, older gentleman. That is until said gentleman has too much pride and is too stubborn to realize that things are going wrong. Like, say, refusing to believe that there’s a flood in the hospital. But I’ll get more into that later.

First, let’s talk about Meredith and Derek. As you may have heard, their relationship has moved onto the next level – cohabitation. But with cohabitation comes some head-butting. Derek is convinced that since they’re living together, it’s time for Meredith to kick out her roommates. It’s not like he’s jumping the gun or anything. Despite drowning that one time, Meredith is the type of girl that dips a toe instead of jumping off the deep end. But Derek, isn’t really getting that at the moment. Just to show how much he doesn’t get it, he point-black tells Izzie and Alex that they’re going to have to move out, and when Meredith is resistant to the idea, he tries to get Cristina on his side so that she in turn can convince Meredith that he’s right.

Meanwhile, Meredith is confused. Since she asked Cristina to be supportive of her and Derek, Cristina is no longer allowed to reveal the opinion that Meredith obviously keeps seeking out. Meredith has also decided that since she’s now “happy,” therapy is no longer needed. So really, she’s just driving herself up against a wall.

Alex and Izzie are my beam of shining light. I say this because time and time again they continue to be my favorite pairing on this series. So, even though I loved them together, and then was heartbroken when they broke apart, it wouldn’t have made sense for them to be OTP so early on in the series. Alex, in order to fight the feelings he’s had for Izzie since their last kiss, has been bringing home a series of slutty one night stands. But in a heart-to-heart with a patient that has a dark cloud following him around, Alex reveals –through some camera angles and stares into the distance – that he wants something with Izzie. This patient (I’m going to call him Nasado, because Katherine Heigl was on Roswell and this guy played Nasado on that show) doesn’t think he should go through with the surgery, after all, he’ll just die anyways. But Alex asks him, if there’s anything that he can live for. Which of course there is, a girl at the grocery store that he’s always wanted to say hello to. Nasado survives his surgery, and decides he’s going to say hello. Sometimes, I love Alex.

Callie and Hahn. Oh lord, I’m still trying to accept them as a couple. You see, I was holding out for a coupling between Mark and Callie. But I guess I’ll just have to settle for Mark and Callie as BFFs. Hahn is having some issues with Mark knowing about her personal business. But as Callie tells her, she needs someone to talk to about these things (re: relationships), she gave up too much during her marriage to George, and she doesn’t want the same thing to happen again. For right now, their relationship is still reading too much as friends. I guess I’m going to have to wait and see how the writers are going to develop this.

George is finally going to retake his intern exam. That is until the ceiling begins to drip, drip, drip, drip, drop. It’s just the beginning of a flood. But, the chief, determined to make his surgical program #1 again, refuses to shut down the surgical floor (until Bailey convinces him to do so, once again proving that she should be Chief). So, George postpones his exam to resume his post as “Chief’s Intern.” Of course, he starts freaking out, convinced that the flood will make him lose everything he memorized. But, the every loyal and pathetic Lexie Grey, feeds him brainfood (legit feeds him, it’s actually quite endearing) and opts out of assisting on a surgery to help George study.

The flood in the episode wasn’t nearly as drastic as it was played up in the promos. If anything, it was used as a catalyst to show how inept the Chief is at times, and to get Alex to say “Hello” to Izzie at the end of the episode. So really, if it leads to Alex and Izzie, can’t say I have a problem with the played-up flood. Oh, and Alex and Izzie aren’t going to be kicked out. Meredith tells Derek that she needs them around, they’re family. Which is good, because the apartment that Izzie was looking to share with a roommate, Cristina put down a deposit for her and Callie. Lord knows that she needs to move out of the ex-fiancé’s apartment.

That’s my recap and review. Did I miss anything out? Discuss below, let me here your thoughts on how Grey’s is shaping up this season.

  2. How much of herself could Callie have lost in her marriage?! They were together for about 0.004 nanoseconds before he cheated & they got the fastest divorce ever performed west of Vegas. I get that she was hurt, but it wasn't like she lost a 15 year marriage with kids & a dog, ykwim?

And the whole gay/not-gay-just-bff thing is irking me. Pick a team & play already!

When Alex shows heart he is my favorite character ~ this week redeemed him a bit for me.

Lexy is honestly becoming my fav! This season is finally fleshing her out & (yeah, ok) she's a tad pathetic on George. But other than that I really like her! Now if they make her sleep with Sloan I'll be a tad skeeved out, but for some reason I keep seeing that one coming.
