So much happened in this hour, that I’m not entirely sure where to start. Throughout the episode I couldn’t decide if I was bored or intrigued, because there are parts I still find boring (like Matt) and things that have me totally hooked. There was a lot of jumping around, so I’ll start in the Present and head to the Future. Here’s what happened:

So much happened in this hour, that I’m not entirely sure where to start. Throughout the episode I couldn’t decide if I was bored or intrigued, because there are parts I still find boring (like Matt) and things that have me totally hooked. There was a lot of jumping around, so I’ll start in the Present and head to the Future. Here’s what happened:

    Present

Mohinder is starting to realize that maybe injecting himself with powers wasn’t the best idea ever. His skin keeps peeling off, but he keeps referring to it as ‘the rash’. I think it’s a little more serious than that. He hears a domestic disturbance upstairs and beats up the husband with his new super strength. When Maya tries to get Mohinder to go out on a walk with her, his rage kicks in and he yells that he’s slaving away for her, like, how dare you think that sleeping with someone means you’re in a relationship, Maya? That night, Mohinder’s hands start sticking to things as he realizes that he can’t reverse the powers once they’re injected, and then the husband from upstairs comes looking for a fight. He gets one, although it was probably over quickly.

Tracy talks to Dr. Zimmerman and finds out that she was a triplet to Nikki and Jessica. They were injected with powers, but he doesn’t remember who he was working for then (thanks Haitian!). When she keeps pressing him for answers, Tracy accidentally freezes a part of him, but not enough to kill him. Horrified by her own power, she quits her job working for Nathan and decides to go jump off a bridge. Nathan swoops in just in the nick of time though, and saves her. They go back to her place and freak out over each other’s powers before they decide it gives them an excuse to make out.

Hiro and Ando are stuck in Level 2, because they’re not really bad ass enough to be on Level 5. They keep trying to escape while they bicker like a married couple over Hiro’s fear that Ando is going to kill him in his sleep. They come up with a plan to escape the cell by climbing through a vent, but just as they’re successful, the Haitian appears and takes them to Angela Petrelli. She tells Hiro that he’s the only one who can get the formula back, but he’s going to need help. Cue Hiro and Ando unearthing Adam Monroe.

    Future

Matt has eaten some kind of foul smelling and probably foul tasting paste that shoots him five years into the future. He’s married to Daphne (isn’t she a little young?) and they have a baby girl and also Molly Walker lives with them. Daphne is working with the villains who now include Claire. They all want to kill Peter, and they do. Only Peter from the Present is in the future, so they still have Present Peter to contend with. Present Peter was brought to the future so that he could see how much it sucks. Everyone who wants super powers has them, and some people abuse them. In a search for Sylar, who can help by giving Peter his power, Peter goes to see Mohinder who has turned into The Fly. It’s weird and creepy and even though you never really see Mohinder, you know it’s got to be gross. He gives Peter Sylar’s location, which is Costa Verde.

In Costa Verde, a young boy’s voice greets Present Peter as he walks in. “Hi Uncle Peter!” It’s a little kid named Noah, and are you ready for this? It’s Sylar’s son. He’s so adorable and cute, and Sylar goes by Gabriel again as he makes waffles. He quickly figures out that this Peter is Peter Past and demands to know why he’s there. Peter just wants to learn Sylar’s power, but Gabriel definitely does not want to pass that ‘hunger’ on to anyone. Peter says it’s for the good of the world, and after Sylar paints the future, he decides he does need to give over the power. Claire and company decide to visit then, and they take little Noah hostage. In the chaos, the kid gets killed, and in a blind rage, Sylar goes nuclear and blows up Costa Verde. Thousands of people die and Claire traps Peter in the morgue, deciding that he should suffer for what happened. Nathan, who is now the President and married to Tracy (what happened to his other wife and kids?), rescues Peter, who then kills him because of that hunger that Sylar always had.

Daphne manages to get back to Matt after Costa Verde, but she dies after falling into his arms, and that’s when he wakes up from his hallucination. All at once the paintings on the rocks become clear, and now he just has to pick a spirit guide to help him find his future wife. He picks a turtle as his guide. No kidding. Present Peter is so freaked out by what he’s done, that when he teleports back to the Present, he does so into Sylar’s cell. Forcing Sylar against the wall, Peter screams that he will not become the monster that Sylar is.

So, what do you all think? I personally could have watched a domesticated Sylar a lot longer. I’ve always said that all he needed was love. Who do you think had the magic skills to transform him back into Gabriel? And who is the baby mama? Be sure to leave your Two Cents, or shoot me an e-mail! There are lots of theories to go around on this one!

  2. I'll go with intrigued, myself. It was pretty good in terms of unexpected moments. And I really want to know who little Noah's mother is!!

  3. And isn't it interesting that Sylar named his son NOAH - HRG's real name???

  4. This episode made my brain hurt a bit, what with all the time travel. But I did love that Adam Monroe is back... and pissed.

  7. Question for the Hero/Adam storyline:

My husband swears that Adam was buried alive in Hero's Father's grave ....

I thought that he was buried alive alone.

So help us out ~ who's right?!?

  8. Slice of Paradise:

Upon further review, Adam was definitely buried alone! Though they don't show the location, Hiro's father would have been buried with his wife back in Japan, and Adam was buried somewhere near The Company's location.

  9. I agree completely...the Matt parts are very boring, and somewhat out there. Why on earth is he able to paint the future all of a sudden? And how can he just picture it now?

Plus-that guy that is painting his life, why couldn't they come up with something new instead of painting the future. Our hearts are still with Isaac!
