A few people have asked me what I thought about season two, and my last recap should tell you the answer. I was so unimpressed, that I completely forgot about Maury Parkman. Most of you took the time to point out to me that he was the one talking to Mr. Petrelli at the end of last week’s episode. Now that I remember boring plot devices from season two, (sorry) let’s see if I can get through a recap without forgetting characters who should still be trapped in their own nightmares but are free with no explanation.

Matt is walking with his turtle through the airport, set on finding Daphne, saving her, marrying her, and making a baby. He asks his turtle guide to give him a sign, and suddenly, there’s Daphne looking for him. “High five, turtle”, and then it’s off to woo the young lady. He tells her about falling in love with him and having a family, and she looks at him like you would expect. All she wants to do is recruit him to Pinehurst. He tells her that she has to get away from them because they’ll get her killed, but she says she has no choice. She has to recruit until her job is done. She speeds away leaving Matt just a sad man in an airport holding a turtle.

Nathan and Tracy have traveled to see Mohinder because they think only he can save them, which is ironic. Tracy shows her power to Mohinder, and when she explains that they were given to her, he gets slightly jealous that she has no horrible side effects. He injects both she and Nathan with a ‘marker’ which is code for ‘drug that makes you pass out’. The last thing Nathan sees is the cocooned bodies. Daphne speeds in a while later to recruit Mohinder, saying that Pinehurst needs him. She hears Nathan groan which causes her to find the bodies, and spits at Mohinder that he’s just like the rest of them. She speeds off after leaving Pinehurst’s card. Later, Tracy tries to plead with Suresh, and when that doesn’t work she freezes his hand and arm then frees herself. She gets Nathan free of his shackles as well, but then Mohinder turns into part Hulk, intent on getting what he wants from them.

We re-visit the scene where Hiro killed Ando, but as we all knew, Ando’s not really dead. Hiro zipped through time and found a fake sword and fake blood before stabbing his friend. Daphne gives Hiro an assignment, saying they have to go find a man in Africa who can paint the future. The thing about finding a man who knows the future is that he can see you coming. Outside of his little hut, Hiro calls out, “Hello? Mr. African Isaac?” which is the cutest thing he’s said since season one. When using his powers doesn’t work to catch the painter, he decides to just sit and wait. Using his brain pays off, and the painter comes home, explaining to Hiro that he has to help capture all of the villains again.

Claire decides she’s going to rescue Meredith from Eric Doyle, and Sandra insists on coming along. Under the guise of wanting a birthday party for Lyle, Sandra tries to buy time for Claire to free Meredith. They get found out though, and Eric starts controlling all three ladies around a table. He decides to play Russian roulette, giving Claire the gun first. When she can’t make the decision to shoot her mother or Meredith, he pulls the trigger for her, in Meredith’s direction. No bullet is fired, and then the gun is passed to Sandra. He forces her to aim at Claire, who talks her mother through shooting her. Wisely, Sandra fires the gun until the bullet hits her daughter, who stays down long enough for Eric to turn his back to her. Then she knocks him out and calls Noah. He gets there and is impressed that Claire caught the bad guy, but she’s still ignoring him. He then turns to Meredith and asks her to help him catch some bad guys.

Sylar and Peter start fighting it out because Peter still can’t stand that he’s related to a monster. For five seconds they get past their differences to try and help Angela who’s stuck in some sort of vegetative state. When Peter tries to read her thoughts, all he sees is Pinehurst’s logo. Overpowering Sylar, he locks him back in Level 5 before leaving for Pinehurst. Meanwhile, Adam is taken to Mr. Petrelli who literally sucks his power from him, which kills him because the power to heal gives eternal life. Once a meeting of the super villains is called, Peter rudely interrupts, and he’s stunned to see his father alive. Giving him a hug, Mr. Petrelli then sucks the powers from Peter (but it doesn’t kill him). Apparently, he’s the keeper of the powers.

There’s a lot going on with this show right now, and while I’m mostly entertained, a lot of the time I’m wondering what’s going on. I still don’t understand how Maury is out of his nightmare. And where are Micah and Molly during all of this? No one’s looking for them? And what about Monica? She seems like she had a useful power. And one of you brought up a good point: Dr. Zimmerman mentioned by name Nikki, Tracy, and Barbara. So what about Jessica? I’d love to hear from you, so leave your Two Cents in the comments!

  2. I have to agree that the "Hello? Mr. African Isaac" was the CUTEST thing ever. I watched that part twice, laughing hard both times.

Also-I agree. What about Jessica? It was explained in season 1 that Nikki and Jessica were twins...but now Nikki was part of a triplet experiment?!? Confusing...

I'm in love with Sylar. Is that wrong??

Can't wait for next week :)

  3. It’s going to be interesting to see how Arthur’s power pans out and who is going to be left to oppose him.

I thought the promo last week said (or maybe I read it somewhere) that we were going to learn why Claire was special this episode. But all we saw her healing power again. Did I miss something?

And how exactly did Daphne race into Level 5? Don’t they have security, scans, locks?

  4. Faye, I've been saying that I would give Sylar the love he needs to fight evil since about season one. All that man needs is love :)

vacelts, you make an incredible point. How did Daphne get through security and such? Maybe she waited for others to pass through and sped behind them? It's another great Heroes mystery.

  5. My favorite quote of the episode: "High five, turtle."

I have been losing interest in Heroes for a while now, and I even rolled my eyes a couple of times last night, but Peter losing his powers intrigues me. He had become the least interesting character because he had all the powers and could get out of any situation in some sort of shark-jumpy way. And now? The plot thickens...

And how creepy was that Puppet Master guy?!?! Yuck!

  6. According to Heroes Wiki, Niki and Jessica are two years apart, not twins, so Jessica was probably either Hal Sanders's biological daughter or adopted from a different set of parents.

  7. Well Sam, that would make sense if they didn't all look exactly alike.

So, is it possible that somehow using Jessica's DNA, clones were then made?

That sentence makes my head hurt, even for this show.

  8. I'm talking about the original Jessica: the one who died and who was not a triplet (whose names are Niki, Tracey, and Barbara). It was NEVER stated that she was identical to Niki. We've only seen a childhood photo of her, where she doesn't look identical at all. She died at age eleven. The only other times we've seen "Jessica" was Niki's split personality.
