So…The Ex List. Right. Bella is a 33 year old single gal who sees a psychic that tells her she has one year to find her soulmate or she won’t get married ever. Also, said soulmate is one of Bella’s ex-boyfriends but the psychic can’t or won’t say which one it is.

Little bit of background on Bella: she’s a florist who lives with two guys and a girl. She shares a communal dog with her current ex-boyfriend who won’t marry her. Oh, did I mention that Bella really wants to get married?

So the psychic tells Bella to look for obvious signs to lead her to her soulmate. After a bird craps on Bella’s shoulder she uses a newspaper to clean it up and sees the name of one of her ex-boyfriends. He’s a really rotten singer and over-sensitive guy named Johnny.

In the flashback from 7 years ago, Johnny is a sucky singer with bad hair. Bella breaks up with him and he cries. Oh, and it was Johnny’s birthday too. Awkward.

Ok, there’s a scene with shaved lady parts. Um, ok.

Bella heads to the bar where the newspaper said Johnny’s gig is being held. So cry baby Johnny is now a punk hottie who sings a little better. He sings a song called “Bitch” and it happens to be about Bella leaving him on his birthday. He’s still singing that song 7 years later? Grudge much?

Cut to a scene with more in depth discussion about shaving the kitty and frankly, I’m not into it. Sex and the City this is not.

Johnny and Bella share a very hot moment when he sees her across the room, walks silently over, then kisses her thoroughly and walks silently away. They meet after in the alley and he blows her off.

Ok, fat jokes now. You’re losing me, show.

Later, Bella goes back to the bar to see Johnny. She’s looking desperate to me. Bella wants to get a drink with Johnny, but for some reason he can’t go because it’s his birthday? Later he shows up at Bella’s flower shop. They make out over some lilies of the valley and apparently head back to Bella’s for some nookie. Uh oh. Johnny gets all weepy again. This is not looking good on the soulmate front.

After that, he’s all touchy and clingy and Bella’s not digging it. She asks him to tone it back a bit and he gets offended and cries. Bella sees a sign that says RUN so she does.

Now Bella’s friends tell her to go all “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”. She goes all clingy and passive aggressive and it totally backfires because he doesn’t break up with her.

Apparently, Bella has a very large mole on her back and it squicks Johnny out. But his concern for her health touches Bella and she actually really starts to feel for him.

And….back to the shaving of the girly parts. Haven’t we had enough of that? Really? Because I’m moving on, show, with or without you.

Turns out, Johnny was just playing her. He breaks up with her via a song called “Revenge” in front of Bella and all her friends in a crowded bar. Nice.

Later, a lost cat leads Bella to another ex.

Overall, this is an ok show, but frankly the whole shaving of the lady bits really turned me off. I think this show is trying very hard to be Sex and the City, but it doesn’t succeed. I’m no prude, but three scenes about shaving down south is a bit much when it’s not critical to the story and honestly, I found it very inappropriate for network television. I hope the subsequent episodes get better because I really do like the premise of the show, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to veer into the raunch zone, if you know what I’m saying. I think it overshadows what could be a very cute show.

Agree with me? Think I’m totally off-base? Let me know in the comments!
