Memo: The Office - "Weight Loss"

Who: The Office
What: “Weight Loss”
When: September 25, 2008

From: PG Ignacio, Sr. Staff Writer pg@thetwocentscorp.com
To: Dunderheads

The Office opened Season 5 with an hour long episode. It was a great set-up re-addressing events from the last season's finale and preparing us for what may come this season. There were some surprises that I didn't expect to happen in the first episode, but I'm glad they did.

The return of Ryan Howard and taking Pam's old job (ironically working directly under Michael) will make for great humor - but does corporate know Michael hired him back?

I didn't expect the proposal to happen this soon, or at all, but it makes the long distance relationship even more complex - There is an open position in New York vacated by Ryan...hmmm, insert Jim Halpert?

It is good to see Michael Scott being Michael Scott. Last season I felt we lost a little something from Michael and it could've had something to do with Jan, but it really seems like he is back to form - with help from his new love interest, Holly, and and his man-crush, Ryan Howard.

    Meeting Notes:
    - Company-wide weight loss competition; Stanley loses 7 lbs
    - Pam goes to art school; lives on campus as Resident Advisor; being flirted with by classmate
    - Ronnie replaces Pam; Ryan returns, replaces Ronnie
    - “Michael likes Holly” continues; Jim coaching Michael on how not to mess this one up
    - Holly finds out Kevin isn’t mentally challenged; Kevin finds out Holly thought he was mentally challenged
    - Andy plans a wedding; Angela beeps Dwight to get “beeped” in the warehouse
    - Jim proposes to Pam at a rest area in the rain
    - Toby broke his neck in Costa Rica, hospitalized for 5 weeks
