  1. Marshall has a problem. In his time spent as an unemployed lawyer, he has spiraled into a funk that can only be rivaled by his underwear (which he now wears out of the house). What is the one thing that can pull him out of this depression? A symbol of his first carefree, happy, innocent days in The Big Apple: the best burger in New York.

When Marshall, Lily, and Ted first moved to the city, Marshall found a little greasy spoon that served the best burger he had ever eaten. Unfortunately, upon returning home to tell Ted about it, he was hit in the head with an aluminum bat (they were new to the city and scared enough to sleep with bats back then).

For next eight years, Marshall searched for that green door with the red neon sign that said simply “Burgers,” but to no avail. Now, the gang sees that Marshall needs The Burger more than ever so they band together and go in search of the greasy Holy Grail.

To make matters worse (or perhaps much funnier) Regis Philbin is in search of that same burger. A member of Barney’s gym (and freakishly strong), Regis intimidates the boys into calling him if ever they find the place. That or he’ll kill them.

Someone else who might kill them is Robin. She has been on a 7-day detox diet for two days and is ready to eat someone’s hand. Yet every time the group gets close to The Burger, it eludes them and Robin is left to suck the glue off envelopes.

In a moment of clarity, Marshall describes The Burger in such a way as to make Shakespeare jealous (and me hungry). He needs it to feel good about his life; to give him a reason to put pants on in the morning. Marshall has been lost between unemployment, rejection, and disappointment, and he needs The Burger to find himself again.

Yet when all seemed lost, there it was in all its sesame seed glory. He found that joy again and got back on the horse. Then promptly sold out and took a corporate job at a bank Barney’s company just took over. At least he got his burger.

    Oh, and Regis was happy.
