Whoooosh. Did you just hear that? That’s summer closing. Welcome back, I mean if you survived the insanity that was last week get ready for today. Blair thinks it would be all kinds of romantical and hot if she and Marcus recreated the library scene from Atonement (*crickets chirping* haven’t seen the movie). But, Marcus being the Lord that he is wants to treat her like a lady rather than like Keira Knightly apparently.

Nate tells Catherine where his father is located; see this is what happens to boys who get Cougar women…they say stupid things! Dan and Serena are caught making out on the street. We see someone take their picture, but because for some reason regular rich people are really that that famous it ends up on Gossip Girl. So, yeah it’s out in the open now. Whoopidty-do. Serena and Dan are my least favorites obviously.

Even though Nate is pretty much Catherine’s personal boy-toy, he and Vanessa decide to hook up as well. N & V are caught by Catherine making out on the street too; okay legit question do kids really do all this making out on the street these days?

Blair is planning yet another party and this time it’s a back-to-school blowout. Please tell me that every episode won’t have a party, that is so season one! Serena and Blair talk. Serena listens to Blair about Marcus. And on the other side Blair warns Serena to be careful with Dan and make sure they really talk about the season one events, so their thing won’t end up being a fling. Serena acts like Serena and leaves in a pouty-like way.

Nate hates being Catherine’s plaything so he hightails it to Chuck to see if he is still willing to loan the money he offered last week. Bur, the money is gone and so is Nate’s last respect for himself.

Serena and Dan are being harassed by Gossip Girl fan tweens who think they know D & S’s relationship better than they do.

Blair is up to something lovely. She visits Rufus’ coffee shop to interrupt Nate and Vanessa. She’s there to invite them to her party and tells them Catherine is coming too. Oh it’s on.

Chuck is trying to have a little fun with a friend, but he can’t. Serena comes in and tells him that this is a sign he’s not over Blair.

It’s time for the shindig (see how I didn’t call it a party – so sick of that word). Chuck’s first goal: Seduce Blair. He takes Blair in his arms basically and grills her about her, err… sex life. She’s interested in Chuck for a mere moment before she takes off.

Nate does some grilling too. He asks B about why she would attempt to lure Vanessa to the party, but he’s pulled away by Catherine before he can say anything more. Just as she grabs him, V comes in and sees the whole thing. At that moment a blackout occurs causing the party (darn it I said it!) to come to a stop. V lets N have it telling him she’s not the girl for a weirdo-love triangle. But, softens up a tad when Nate tells her the whole “I have no money and need to help pay for my family” drama.

In another less interesting story, Serena and Dan are trapped in an elevator during this blackout. This becomes the moment they talk for good and decide maybe some time apart will actually be a good thing. Can I get a HALLELUJAH?

Nate finally realizes he’s no one’s gigolo and ends it with Catherine. But our favorite Cougar isn’t taking that lightly. In a fight with V, she threatens to tell the FBI where Nate’s dad is if N leaves her. Wow. I don’t like this storyline anymore. It’s just even creepier now. V decides not to tell N this and only says that he should stay in his current situation.

Blair attempts to seduce Lord Marcus, telling him they are going to have sex. Chuck overhears this and shows up in Marcus’ place and even fakes an accent. This rocks because Ed Westwick is actually British. So okay… he is a British actor faking an American accent, who’s faking a British accent. My head hurts now. This plan fails, of course, and Chuck gets a nice punch to his face from Lordy boy. Blair confesses to Marcus that she needs more love in her life as they kiss.

Chuck still can’t find the need to sleep with random women anymore, Dan is left hanging out with V. Vanessa for some reason blabs that Nate is a gigolo and mentions Catherine’s threat to Dan.

END NOTE: I wanted better blackout scenes. For an interesting idea, this was far from good episode. But, forget the episode for a moment, I have a more important question. Where exactly is Lily? Her honeymoon sure is long isn’t it? I can’t imagine it’s the best thing to leave these kids alone all summer without an adult? Yeah I know I sound 52 when I’m 22, but I’m just saying…. I need a little more realism!

  2. I agree - they wasted perfectly good blackout time. This episode could have been uber-sexy and wasn't.
But thankfully Dan & Serena are dunzo so now w just need N to stop this V and Catherine triangle and go for S. That kiss they had last episode was SMOKIN'!
